now i'm using the old creative sound blaster live 5.1 platinum . I want to upgrade to creative SB audigy 2 ZS but i was wondering if i can connect my live! IR drive to this new one. Audigy 2 ZS platinum has. so i think that it should be able too. Any one trying this before? may be i need some hardware configuration?
see guy.. this Live IR is just an extension for SBLive 5.1 platinum card. as well as SB audigy 2 ZS paltinum. there must be some '#%^$' for this stuff. i've read some topic on this forum tells.. for those who have the creative sound blaster live/audigy can be modify to an audigy 2?? so how about the 24 bit since the Live card only 16 bit?? Please help me. |

you can create a custom cable to connect the audigy 2 to the live drive IR as long as the audigy card has the AD_EXT connector
however, the converters on the live! drive are only 16 bit afaik, so 24 true 24 bit recording is impossible using thte live! drive

It would be really useful for you to try connecting LiveDrive IR to your Audigy2 card. First you'll have to make custom cable, like dj_stick mentioned. See pinout for the AUD_EXT (Live! Drive) connector, than comare it to the AD_EXT connector. There has been al least one user on this forum who confirmed that this is possible! Dont't worry about 96khz/24bit recording, you can get it trough line in connector at back of your card, by using AC97 bypassing method. If you are going to connect your LiveDrive to Audigy2, please reply, I'll try to help as much a I can! Thank you!

Ryesson, take Samir's advice - he did most of the work mapping that pinout, and any feedback will help him prove it to be true

Live and Audigy cards use (AUD_EXT) where as Audigy 2 cards use (AD_EXT) to connect to the front bay drives
you will need to fashion a cable (or group of cables) connecting each corresponding pin between the a2zs and the live drive

Second step is to confirm if you can get 'LiveBay0' or something like that in kX driver's About box...

It doesn't matter if you are using kX or Creative drivers to me, but i would reccomend kX; it works fine with games (no EAX dough, but 3D sound positining is fine), and it's great if you are into music listening and/or creation... kX has superior sound quallity. Creative software bundle should not work with kX driver, but if you ever use kX, you'll find that 'bundle' = rubbish. Try & see for yourself! Anyways, when you are ready (finished cable) to connect your Audigy2 to LiveDrive IR, no matter what drivers you prefer, post here... Good luck!

Checkout this thread about AUD_EXT (LiveDrive) pinout... Seems you ar looking at your connector upside down!
Don't worry about note i specified, just connect everything, and we should see if it works...

Hi All,
I'm trying to do something similar. I had an Audigy Platinum (model SB0090). The Card died but (I assume) the drive (front panel connector box) is still good. I bought an Audigy 2 ZS, connected the cable, but no joy... Is the pinout different? Will the Audig2ZS drive an Audigy connector box? Any ideas or help? Thanks. Hello, I would like to connect my Live! Drive IR bay (SB0010D) with remote RM900 to my Audigy 2 ZS sound card, I red this post and i am happy to find out that its possible...
Now my problem is that i'm totally zero at hardware stuff, making cables etc nor i don't know where it is possible here in my city to make a flat cable to connect the IR device to the audigy 2 ZS ...So i'm here to ask for a big favour... i ask if someone in this forum can make this cable for me, obviously i will pay every cost needed for it and shipping to my country, I am from Italy. If someone of you can do this for me..i will be so glad.. If you need detailed pics of the Live Drive IR or the sound card to see connectors and pins...i will try to support you for everything. Please let me know.Rave |

confirmed in US - creative software does NOT work with KX driver (3538g)
THE ONLY software distributed by creative that I found works is Viennna. Rythmania (from old live card) does not work either (no devise found) as it doesnt recognise the any of the midi drivers. Which sucks cuz I liked playing around with this one. I hate loosing functionality when upgrading. But that has nothing to do with KX .

WOW what a pile of spagetti. Did you check out your wiring fot the 11th time yet. I have to wonder - thats too easy to make wiring mistakes (Check resistance of each solder joint too) there sould BE NO/very very little differences in the <1 ohm range.

What about regular Audigy with Live! Drive?
I hooked up my Audigy with the Live!Drive IR from my SB live! platinum, because the interface wires seem to be compatible; however, the drive does not function or respond to anything. Is there any way I can enable it's use with RemoteCenter (doesn't detect it) or something else? Or maybe the drive is now broken somehow?
Thanks |
