Sad Please help whit my Radeon 9800 pro card, "lost focus" error

Hi

I have like 3 weeks whit my Radeon 9800 pro, and it worked great, until yesterday, i have this strange message "Lost Focus" when i try to run a game or a Ati demo (like chimp demo or bear demo), and even whit 3dmark03 i get that strange message, and i cant run anything right now, all games will minimize and go to the desktop, and i cant run anygame...

Please help me, because i dont know what else to do, i reinstall the drivers (4.2 omega) and it doesnt work, i download the 4.1 catalyst and omega and nothing, i always get that error message, i even reinstall all, the OS, everything, and the same error message.

I have:

Windows xp sp1
gigabyte GA-7s748
amd athlon xp 2400+
kingston 512mb pc2100
ati radeon 9800 pro 128mb
cd-rw lg
dvd-r piooner

my power supply is 400W

Please help... cause im thinking my Radeon 9800 its dead and i expend a lot of money for that cool vidcard...sniff.... =(

running with 2 video out's connected? I think it's jumping to another display or thinks it is, make sure you're only connected to one output device monitor/tv and if that's the case try pulling the plug on your monitor, could be a refresh issue and some monitors remember resolution/refresh info.

Go into your Device Manager and REMOVE all instances listed beneath Monitors. No matter how many are listed, highlight each one and select to REMOVE. Do this without rebooting until all of them are gone. Then reboot and let Windows redetect your monitor.

Have you tried reinstalling the video drivers yet?

Also, you might try turning off the VPU Recover in the Display Properties settings.

Beyond that, do you recall doing anything/installing anything new since the card last worked properly? Any new hardware, software, etc?

Yep, VPU its off and same fastwrites (i have omega 4.2), im gona reinstall the drivers right now

Hm... last hardware was a keyboard, just that, software... prince of persia TsoT demo, FFXI benchmark and aquamark... just that, i only moved the refresh rate for my monitor, and then it seems that every game crashes to my desktop, now my monitor its 1280x1024 60hz

in fact, when i run for example Halo, i can hear the game but its minimized and when i try to restore the game to the original size, again the window minimize, in every game, in FFXI benchmark it says lost focus, same for 3dmark and any ati demo.

Im reinstalling omega drivers..

If the problem persists, try uninstalling Omega's drivers and then install the official drivers. (I'm a fan of his drivers, too, but this will help determine whether it's a driver issue or not.)

change resolution to 1024x768 60hz try running your games opr benchies see if you get the same error. Also shut down unplug monitor wait a couple minutes plug it back in and reboot see if that helps. oh yeah also unplug your monitor from your vid card make sure you have no bent pins, I think I had this same issue and I had a bent pin, if I remember correctly.

Be sure to click on the Views(or tools) menu within the device manager, and select, Show Hidden devices. Then delete every monitor you see.

Ok guys, check this:

i put the splinter cell demo, and i can play but in extremely low resolution (640x480), and when i try to change the resolution (for example 1152x864) the game always crash to the desktop, i can hear the game but i cant restore the window, again...

maybe its a problem whit my monitor but im not sure, if thats the case, do i have to change my monitor?

There could be a problem with your monitor. That's one thing to consider. Do you have access to another monitor you can try? From a friend?

I had a monitor go bad a couple of years ago but it would simply go to a black screen. This would happen when the image got too bright. I had it repaired and am still using it on my other computer.

Well at least he used the search function. Most people would just post something like, "What m0N1t0r 5h0u1d 1 8uy?" ad nauseum.

when your playing a game or watching a movie on full screen it some how minimizes it and you have to go back and make it full screen again

and with games it down sizes it and some times crashes the your game

the keyboard/mouse was trying to communicate with the computer making it go to the desktop

and thanx for the info buddy ... but you were to late and you did not even say what driver to reinstall or update i could have spent days on your fix and installing drivers or programs i did not need

I'm kinda happy i did not see your post i would have installed that program and what ever spy wear came with it

i like my computer to run clean and fast installing programs that i don't need would only make more problems.. and not to say all the reg entries

so thanx there smarty pants

and it sounds like you were kinda upset that i fixed it with out your help

SpyWare is supposed to hide and steal resources, not reveal itself and want you to delete it. Unless its that annoying pop up crap thats supposed to kill your sanity....hate that. Worth a look though
