I'd get a 9800NP at least if you can find one, check pricewatch.com or a pro card. they can be had for around $250 OEM or $268 retail card. SE stands for Shitty Edition.

bah forget what i said eairlier get the 9600xt

i bought one, it seems to score slight under that of when i had a 4200 ti
but with the dx9 hardware support and the free half life 2 it's a steal

(and for the record a 9800 np is slowr then a 9600XT and the 9800 costs more)

Ok

Well, I like to save when possible! But if you can see better results than a 9500 Pro OC'd to 9700 Pro; or even stock -On real life games, please let me know. Just bought another...'Hint'

But remember it's not just the card, it's really the system

Cheers

For the record: Not if you know what you're doing and set it up right and reflash to a pro. You can get them to OC to around XT speeds............

yes but at thier stock speeds a 9600xt beats them... they have only 4 pixel pipelines which put them in th boat with the xt. and the xt's running 500mhz/600mhz

for the record after free software and games i got my 9600 xt retail for about $39.00

get the 9600XT i've got one and it rules for the bucks. the 5700 ultra can bearly keep up in all the shoot outs i've seen between the two. and the XT will have some neat features in the future that non xt card will not be able to take advantage of! had a few small problems when i got the card but i mostly attribute that to the fact that i've only owned nVidia before this ATI 9600XT

ahhh but the ATI card shined and the 5700 ultra never really did in the quility department and that's what i'm in it for. all the games i play ( COD, Halo, TFC, NFS) are played with everything turned up for the very best quility and no game do i get less than 75 fps (v-sync on) on average and never dips below 40 fps at 1152x864 75mhz refresh rate. so i'd say for what i'm looking for, quility, the 9600XT blew the compitition away!

9800NP have 8 pipe lines, the SE's have 4 pipes. You need to get the specs right. the NPs are just like a pro at lower clock rate and different speed memory.
Read this chart to get your info straight:
