Would you do this? Swap SB Live! MP+ for a CL's PCI 128 4-speaker card?

My SB Live! MP+ card is a 'legacy' card. It's about 4 years old now. It actually is working quite well, but not all features are working. For instance, I can no longer use the Creative Recorder app.

MicroCenter has some SB PCI 128-Voice 4-Speaker cards that come with new XP drivers. The card uses the ES1373 chip.

Would you swap the cards if you were me?

I actually do consider the SB Live card to be a better card by far. But, for some reason the legacy drivers won't let me install all of the features it's capable of doing. E.G. that Creative Recorder app. I'm trying to recall the others, but that's the main one. I CAN use the built-in Windows Sound Recorder....but, I have to set up a specially recorded 'blank' sound file the length of whatever I want to record. Since there are times I have no earthly idea how long something will be, the Creative Recorder is a much-preferred option.

After some considerable time trying, I FINALLY got the updated XP Creative Recorder working!!!

Before now, each time I would try to update from my 98SE installation of it, I would get a 'previous version of Creative Recorder not found' error and the install would halt.

Well, this evening, I decided to closely monitor the extraction of the XP Creative Recorder install and completely deleted all the files in my TEMP folder first. Aha!

After the extraction completed, and after the same error and halting of the install program, I went to the TEMP folder and opened it deep within the CRxxxx folder to the Install.exe. BINGO! it completed and worked!

So, I can save that Creative Labs 128-voice sound card for another day and another computer.
