I have had enough of Abit, I'm going DFI.
This is the 5th NF7-S rev2 mobo I have had die on me. I have never done any mods on them. (other than a temporary volt mod for testing purpuses)
I'm getting a DFI lanparty revB now. its reviews and specs look better than the NF7-S rev2, and it also phisicly looks better.
reviewers have gotten this thing past 230MHz, but does anyone here own one? Any thoughts on it?

well, considering none of my other mobos died, and it has no dust coming off of it if you use a air compressor I would say its abits fault.

I've been having a lot of problems with ABit. Their tech support and RMA departments are a joke.

I don't think the RMA department is a joke.... It's just that the employees can barely speak english. I've RMA two times, and never had a problem.
So for you two, ISOLATED PROBLEMS

My NF7 is awesome- I haven't got the hardware to push it yet- but I will soon.
Craig- what happened to the Mobo?
Also- you should post up your pics of the mobo you posted in the other sub forums and see if other peeps think it was dusty or not.

You need to see the pics we saw. Maybe it was the camera, but it looked pretty bad.

It would be isolated problems if I only had the problem once. But having their RMA department send you 3 DOA RMA returns in a row is uncalled for. Taking over a week to respond to tech support emails is uncalled for. I am not saying their products are not good. But these two departments need to straighten up before I ever use them again.

most people I have seen have hit at least 230MHz with them, quite a few are breaking 240, and 3 people have gone past 250.
it was 156$, but it comes with a ton of stuff. They ship it in a case for computer cases theirs so much stuff. (front panels with usb firewire and headphone jack ports also 4 status lights, computer carriers, UV reactive cables, tons of miscilanious stuff like that)

Well, the answer is freaking obvious on this. Your power supply is crap or something. That's the only component that has been used on all of those motherboards that could cause that problem...... DUH

pc power and cooling 510 watt deluxe, it works on everything else. I have also tried a enermax 550 watt (I acctually use the enemax more, it puts out higher average volts, but they drop slightly, (to 11.98) while the pc power and cooling NEVER drops below 12v on the 12v rail)

I still am lead to believe that it's the power supply. To think that you have the same exact problem on all of those motherboards. You go and tell me what could possibly be the problem? 5 motherboards with what appears to be identical problems......
EDIT: oh man, i'd die of laughter if it turned out to be dust that killed all 5 boards.

well, if this next board dies then I'll get pc power and coolings best PSU. (600 watts) It seems very unlikly that that is the problem though.

nononono...... Tell me what you think the problem could be on 5 boards. There's no way that 5 boards faulted. All I can think of it operator error.

I was actually talking about the pics that were in this thread- New mod in progress
But anyway-
PC Power and Cooling is like THE BEST PSU MAKER there is. I highly doubt it is that- BUT who knows, they could have made a bad unit. They have a 5 year warranty don't they? I'd just send it back and tell then the situation, but still, I bet they take it apart and see all the dust and tell you that was the problem (unless you have taken it apart and cleaned it out lately)- My PSU gets dusty and all hell breaks loose with it. (it's a cheap POS though)
Good luck anyway- that must really suck.

.... man..... i just could NEVER use a air compressor..... i'd rather use my own air to blow it out... if i had to.... i've seen way to many people use an air compressor and blow out a computer.... causing it to become unstable... or worse... not boot up after....

I use a compressor around 60PSI. I hold the nozzle about 2 feet away. Works fine. i've been doing it monthly since March. No problems.

I have my mom get me canned air for Christmas and B-day because I hate buying the she-ite. But I always have about 4 cans on hand, I usually use them up before I get the next batch, makes my mom's shopping pretty easy too.
