More questions from a newb --->
I have an SBLive! Platinum with front panel etc . . .
I am trying to do something that seems like it should be very simple to me.
I'm trying to record something with a microphone and add effects to the sound as it is recording in real-time.
Right now, I simply have my FXBus1 and FXBus2 going straight to my R and L Headphone outputs. (My speakers). Whenever I record something with the microphone, I can always add effects and adjust it *as it is playing back* along that path.
In other words, once the signal to be processed is already on my hard drive, I can do whatever I want with it between my hard drive and my speakers.
Unfortunately, this is useless for the sound editing work I do. I need to be able to add effects (compressors, EQs, etc . . . ) AS the signal is being recorded to my hard drive -- so that these effects end up in the actual recording that is made. (Not just added by the DSP on top of that recording after it gets made).
Afterall, why would I record a loud, off-pitch, unbalanced file to my hard drive, and then compress, pitch-shift, and equalize it with my sound card, if there's no way to save the result? It may sound great during playback but that's it.
I need to find a way to intercept my microphone signal and add effects to it before it is recorded to my hard drive. I'm coming in my Front Panel Microphone input. Does anybody know how to do this? (Or does anybody have screenshots of their recording setup that they can show me?)
Thanks in advance.
