9800 pro
I know this is a loaded question, but is the 9800 pro really worth the money? I do alot of photoshop work and rendering, and I guess I dont play alot of games but sometimes I like to play some FPS games.
Is it better value going for a 9700 pro or spending more for a 9800 pro, I would like to play half life 2 and Doom 3 when they come out.
Im not really into overclocking.
I currently own a geforce 3 and I know ATI are meant to have much better image quality.

I would say wait until Doom III comes out then see what is available on the market. If what you have right now does the job then save your money up so you can get pickup the biggest, baddest card out there in November w/ no $$$ worries.

Or you may look at a 9500 Pro if you can find one...... They are less than half the price and are one sweet card after you tweak it.....Nice website by the way

IF your system is ok AND you are a good tweaker, go for it. Im a little dissapointed, make sure your system can handle it too before you get the almighty card

It doesn't take much of system to use the r9500pro. I have used my r9700pro in everything as low as pIII700/100FSB and I still was hitting like 10K in 3dmark2k1 and like 3.5k in 2k3. In my current system I can hit 5.5k in 2k3 and about 15k in 2k1.

I guess my pcs the exception rather than the rule, most people have had outstanding experiences with the 9500.

Yes, its worth the money since its the beat out there but the Radeon 9700 pro has the "performance/price" crown................persoanally, i wouldnt wait cause we're talking 'bout technology here which is borderless and is expanding at the speed of life........there's new things coming out everyday, so you might wanna get the current best from time to time instead of waiting for them to come out, cause they are the one who is supposed to wait for you to get them............

Well you may consider me a little biased, but hey really I am not!
Honestly it depends on a few things:
1) How much do you wish to spend
2) How long do you want to keep the card
3) How important is 3D gaming performance to you?
I would say if a) you have the money to spend b) you want to keep it for a lot of years and c) you really like gaming then yes go for the 9800, you will be blown away.
If you dont want to spend as much and you can upgrade in a couple of years and you arent that big into gaming you should go for the 9200.
But whatever you do, go for a RADEON Card! lol

Thank you for the help guys, and thanks Cat maker, I think I will go for a 9800 pro in a few months when I get the money together. my ex boyfriends 9600 pro works much better than my geforce and I like the IQ.... will be good for rendering.

You have chosen wisely.
You best believe you will get the best driver support from ATI and on DH than anywhere else.

Alas, I have zero skills with photochopping.
Otherwise we would have had a pint sized Cat Maker with greenish skin using the force to pull the sinking radeon family from the swamp
