Default Post Dish Network + Radeon VIVO = Freezing Screens

A new problem.

I've been having trouble now for about 3 weeks with my satellite reception, but ONLY in one of four locations in the house - my office.
What's been happening is the screen will freeze like I've hit the Pause button on a movie. It won't restore signal until I switch channels back and forth. Often, I also get an Error message on the TV Screen indicating that a problem has been detected with the signal switch. Still at other times, the signal becomes completely lost and has to be restored.

Well, after about 2 hours today and having Dish Network repair to replace EVERYTHING, I was getting excellent results UNTIL I attempted to reconnect my VCR to my Video In on my RADEON 64 VIVO. As long as I do not connect the VIVO everything works great. As soon as I try to connect it, it's only a matter of seconds before I get an error.

This did not start happening until about 2-3 weeks ago. It never happened with either Cable or DirecTV. The receiver is a DB301 and Dish Network Tech Support is completely stumped as to why this happens. It occurs whether I try to run the cables directly from the receiver or through the VCR.

The only suggestions that Tech Support could offer were 1. Contact the Video Card maker (I'm using the latest drivers of EVERYTHING) or 2. Upgrade to a different receiver ... at a cost of 200 bucks. Since there's no guarantee that a different receiver would do the trick, I'm really not inclined to put out the money in that direction. At the same time, I hate seeing my investment in the VIVO going to waste.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Default Post Am I blazing to trails here?

I would have thought there would be others having this problem, too. Am I the only one?

Default Post Does anyone know.....

....if the RADEON 64 DDR VIVO sends some kind of signal to the tuner?
This problem still has not been corrected, but here's a few more details and updates:
(Please read my original post.)

If I watch channels 8300 - 8304 I never have a problem with the signal. If I change the channel to anything outside of that, that's when I start getting error messages and screen lockups on the TV. In some cases I even get a 'your smartcard is not authorized to view this program.....' But it IS. Those channels are things like The Weather Channel and TBS which are definitely part of the package.

Again, the only times these problems occur are when I have my RADEON hooked up to the VCR via the RCA composite video and audio cables.

Since this video card has no built-in tuner, it's not trying to split any signals...which is the only scenario I can come up with that would trigger this kind of problem.

I have dish network and never had any problems like that. The only time i get a check switch error is 1 had a reciver go bad on me. 2 when strong gust of wind blow. I used the vivo with it when I had it to record movies etc.. Worked great . Think maybe thier could be a short in your vivo interface on the raddy? Only thing I can think of at this time.

Default Post But, if I remove the VIVO....no problems whatsoever....

As long as I do not have my VIVO in the mix, there's no trouble at all.
DishNetwork already had a crew out and they changed everything from the cable to the TV to the module on the dish itself. That included a new receiver, too.
Since the only thing that causes the problem is my VIVO being connected, DishNetwork doesn't want to troubleshoot anymore. They say it has to be my computer.

I appreciate your replies, though. At least I know someone is using or has used the setup without trouble.
