Hell yeah I'm gunna try to OC it... I've already talked to Cereal Killer and he said his XP1700 went up to 2400+ mhz w/ a Abit NF7-S, I'm sure my A7N8X is capable of doing the same.. we'll see.

Well, frankly, 2400+ (2GHz) is one of the lower overclocks I've heard of when it comes to the 1700+ JIUHB! I've got mine clocked to 2900+ (2.33GHz) but I've heard of scores of people hitting 2.5GHz.
Have fun!

Remember to push that chip in stages....don't go straight to 2.4GHz...keep the multiplier at the stock 11.0 and up the FSB to 166 instead of 133 (that will give you 1834MHz) @ 1.5V. Then you may wanna try 200Mhz x 11.0 (2.2GHz) @ 1.7 or 1.75V and go from there.
Hope you have fun this weekend...and remember that if you have any other questions, I, myself, and many other here on this board are more than happy to help you out tek!
Laterz!

Hehe... exactly... sorry bout that misunderstanding
I see what you mean Cereal... first try 166x11 @ 1.5V.. then if thats stable go to 200x11 @ 1.75V (what now... lower voltage by .05 increments and see if things are still stable... or raise the FSB by like 5 @ that voltage and see if things are still stable.. if not raise voltage, and repeat that?).
Thanks again.

Most 2.0 board are getting between 220-225 for the FSB. At least that's what i see from other forums. Usually a VDD mod helps to get higher.

Done..... installed xp1700 with AS3 under a SLK-800(A)
and guess what.. I even took the time to REMOVE THE SHIM off my Built By ATI 9500 PRO, and I put some AS3 on there, WOOT!
Installed everything, took pics.. soon I'm gunna make a nice little site on my homepage about this project (when I get some time.. or when I stop being lazy..).
166x11 @ 1.500V - Comp rebooted once without blue screen, second time mouse froze.
Took Sandra CPU and MEM bandwidth test, looks good (mem at 5-2-2-2).
166x11 @ 1.525V - Computer seems fine.. been on this for bout an hour, didnt take any tests.. no need to, all I did was raise the voltage by .25.
I'm stickin right here at 166x11 until my new power supply comes (Antec True 430W PSU, should arrive on Wed).
BTW: The pictures I took are "QUALITY" - amazing.. I'm gonna upload em and do something with em soon, woot.

Congrats!
Did you have a hard time with the shim on your 9500Pro? I'm considering taking it off my 9700Pro but I'm too chicken
Any suggestions since you have first hand experience? Thx.

Well... I was confused at first, I unscrewed the fan.. and I pulled really hard at first but the mother****er wouldn't come off.. so I looked on the fan carefully and I saw two black 'caps' holding the fan, so I took some tweezers and clipped on one of the 'caps' on the other side of the card and I pulled -- and it came off... I did the same with the other 'cap' and it came off, then I saw that nasty shim on the bottom of the fan.. and I took a credit card and started removing as much of it as possible... and I took some rubbing alcohol and cleansed the bottom of the fan, then took a plastic knife to try to get off as much of the little crap on it as possible, I saw some shim on the right side of the GPU.. but I was too scared to touch it so I just left it there... then I just put on a dab of AS3 on the GPU, and a dab on the bottom of the fan, closed it up.. put the 'caps' on, screwed it in and I let it sit for like 30min, then I put it back into puter and voila, shim-less video card.
If you wanna see pics of my progress go to:

*I also want to thank my dad for helping me out with this, wo0t dad!!

It doesn't look like you removed the shim. You removed the thermal pad from the gpu. The shim is the metal peice thats on the edge of the substrate.

Remove the grill from the heatsink unit. All it does is cause flow restriction. Unless you want it to "look" good, I would remove it. Just make sure that the area is clear around it.
