merry is on a distinguished road

Well, I was pretty upside down this morning

nevermind why. Fact is I spent a little time in the forums, and I'm all merry and everything again

It's not the first time it happened, but I sort of don't like the way I can say it in English... So it's the first time I say:

Thanks

is this a statement of affirmation?

I enjoy the forums myself, but I often use it for tech rescues and it easily conceals my ignorance...(or so I think) ha ha...do you enjoy the tech side or the dialogue..

Tech rescues... in the Political Debate, right

And tech oriented dialogues are still dialogues, you know, so the answer is quite obvious.

I've been pretty upside down myself lately. I've been offered a promotion after only two months of work to a new facility the company I work for is opening in Texas. The money is pretty good, the area my family would move to looks great too. But for this unknown reason there is this nagging thought in the back of my head of why me when there are more qualified and senior people on the job that should be jumping up and down for this job? Anyway the stress of that decision and personal family matters has caused me to be a grump and just flat stressed out. And to make matters worse I barely get to DH once or twice a week lately.

I usually don't have much to add in the tech forums but I love to read them, especially when I blow or burn something up. Political debate meets the "old man with a checkboard" aspect of my personality, but I find the forums somewhat uplifting especially when I can make a contribution. I am perhaps years behind some of our DH members in terms of technology, but I don't sense very much tech Elitism, I can ask a question and not suffer reproach for owning or using old equipment, that is something that is hard to find sometimes in other Websites. I think DH offers so much more. I see DH growing with the tastes and interest of the members.
I believe that the corporate knowlege that exists here, can be measured in terms of the years of experience each person has...I don't know how many members we have now, but I think we have literally thousands of years of individual experience that can easily be communicated in the forums and other means within the website, and offer so much more...
I think right now DH is like an acorn, slowly growing beyond the horizontal plane, rising up above all the other sites and expanding like the boughs of a mighty tree.
There are so many intangeble things that DH represents to me, and when my ex wifes wont leave me alone and my kids are chirping for more money, I can retreat to DH, like my father with his book and pipe to an Oasis of intellectually and creatively advanced people that can lower their barriers and begin to peek into the unknown and learn something...
I know that you might think all of this is corny...but I remember the words of Bill Shatner in the old series called Startrek....As he and his crew sought out new adventures and discoveries, I too feel a sense of discovery from my participiation.
Driverheaven is a phenomena, but I think the desire to learn and improve and build our knowlege of our world from meeting and learning with other Dh members barely hints at it's vast potentiol...
As technology improves, I sincerely hope that DH will grow with it, and be embraced by a larger community of like minded members and still remain flexible and strong...

I've been there, and let me tell you: don't question it, take it. There's plenty of things that go wrong for no reason - or culpability - in anybody's life, and the answer is the same: take it as it comes and move along.

And mind also that your bosses have a different prospective on their staff than the staff themselves, and you can trust their judgement, be that only for the fact that they run a company that's working.

Congratulations, hobbit

I agree with Merry on this one Frodo301.
Merry and I graduated from the same program 2 years apart in 2 different countrys.
And we have both had our experiences I'm sure.

Like he said there must be a reason you were selected ... Living with a missed opportunity HURTS ... Trust ME ...............

PS: Come for the tech help, stay for the company ...... Thats pretty catchy Dig
