SB Live! Value SPDIF AC3 out ADA880
I've beeing trying to get AC3 from SB SPDIF out into my speaker for ages. Nothing seems to work.
Hardware:
Soundcard - SB Live! value w/ SPDIF out (yellow, mini)
Speakers - Altec Lansing Altec Lansing ADA880 SPDIF (RCA)
Adapter - Mini phono (MONO) to RCA (female) adapter.
Cable - 20 foot long RCA cable.
Driver: KX audio Driver
First of all, I read the help menu of KX and it shows a picture of the miniplug for use with the SPDIF out of SB, it is an "Stereo" minip hono plug. However, I am using an Mini Mono to RCA adapter. Does it require a "stereo" to work? Cuz I've also read somewhere else that Mono should work also.
Second, if I am using the correct adapter. Then it must be the SB, driver, or software. I say this because I plug an standalone DVD player and my ADA880 can recived DD AC3 cuz the light turn green instead of orange (Prologic).
1. I've unclick "SPDIF Bypass", and click "Digital out only" mode.
2. Unmute both "SPDIF" Front and Rear under "Ins 'n' outs"
3. Using default DSP graph
4. Play an Divx movie w/AC3 sound using ZoomPlayer w/ Intervideo audio decoder (Set to output thru SPDIF). No luck.
5. Use PowerDVD and set audio setting to be SPDIF, again no luck.

Soundcard: CT4670 Original Sblive! Value
Spdif Output: Hoontech extension board
Problem: I need to get either Spdif Bypass or Spdif decoding to work, but can't get neither to co-operate (Spdif bypass not yet supported I know). Spdif decoding actually periodically works with powerDVD, but refuses to work with most DVD:s and with any Avi/Spdif codecs.
With creative drivers Spdif Bypass works fine with both PowerDVD and Avi:s with AC3.

Got spdif decoding to work. I manually registered claud.ax powerdvd filter and instantly AVI:s with ac3 work with kx. There are though some problems, especially seeking the avi file sometimes causes BSOD in some kx dll and sometimes after playing a avi&ac3 file the thing goes broke and produces only digital clicks. Thank you for the drivers, I'm even able to put cutoff filter in the subwoofer part to save my smallish speakers from ultra low frequences

i got the same with seeking avi's in BSplayer, luckily, without bsods.. the sound just loops and i have to switch from and
back to SPDIF out.

ac-3 decoding is not very stable, however, we are working on this issue
3532 release will introduce much better ac-3 support, including bypass (both for live and audigy cards), ac3 passthru (for audigy/audigy2 only), and, probably, ac-3 spdif decoding, as well as much better software ac-3 decoding

Why cant passthough be enabled for the live! cards - it is the only thing stopping me from switching to kx as I cannot get surround sound out of my external decoder.

10k1-based cards (Live! and APS) cannot handle audio streams as 'binary' data
they always try to 'resample' it
there are some special (complicated) tricks that allow to bypass 'resampling', however, these techniques cannot be implemented at the moment (for 10k1-based cards)
ac-3 bypass & passthru will be supported for audigy-based boards in the next release

What's the difference between spdif bypass and ac3 passthru? Would i be able to use my external AC3 decoder if i enable spdif bypass on a live! board?
I tried some time ago with 3529 and i could not hear any sound...
Thanx!

spdif bypass: when your LiveDrive's spdif IN goes directly to LiveDrive's spdif out
spdif passthru: when your DVD Player's AC-3 data goes directly to your LiveDrive's spdif out
(that is, kX Driver doesn't perform audio decoding)
