What brand mobo?

I use Abit NF7-S now. I have had an ASUS A7V-133, GigaByte 7VAX, Abit NF7, and finally my Abit NF7-S.

i use Abit KR7A-RAID mobo ... it is slightly over a year old but it still does the biz

Asus! I have two -- a P4T-E and the one I'm using now is a A7N8X Dlx.

We're a bit partial to Abit. We've been using them for qute a few years now, since the old K6-2 days. Currently we have 2 KX7-333R's and 1 KD7-RAID. After 3DFX got bought-out, all of our PC's have been running some version of Radeon and have always had some version of Sound Blaster in them. My brother buys most of the parts and I do all the setups and maintenance.

Abit is a very good brand for those hardcore OCers. It's really stable and reliable. I'm using a Abit AT7-Max2 MB currently. It's a board with all the neccessary bells and whistles.

The motherboard you buy depends greatly on what you plan to do with it. If you are not an overclocker, then almost any of the above brands are fine. Given of coarse each board has differnet features and some boards aren't as stable as others. But if you want ultimate overclockability the Epox boards right now are your friend. This of coarse is subject to change, I remember when asus or abit baords were the overclockers friend. Now epox seems to cater to the overclocking enthusiest like me. 8rda @ 220 fsb rock stable .... Do i smell a w00t niqqa ?? !!

I look for stability above everything else when getting a motherboard. Performance is a close second, but if I must experience crash after crash, a fast system is of no real use. I also look for solid hardware with a good lifespan.

I don't do O/C, so I don't really care if the board is good at that or not.

For the reasons above I've come to trust the ASUS/Intel combo (with Intel chipsets of course

). I got two ASUS with non-Intel chipsets (Apollo Pro 133A and KT133A), and they never were as solid as the Intel based ones.

For the moment, both ASUS P4PE and TUSL2-C rock my world.

I have built several system's using Abit, Epox, Gigabyte, Asus, FIC, ECS, Shuttle, Chaintech, and Soyo. And because of that you couldn't give me an ECS, Shuttle, or FIC. Had nothing but problems with them. But out of all the system's I have come to enjoy building system's with Asus board's, though this A7N8X Deluxe was hell at first, gotta love that first BIOS!!! But it has paid off in the end. It alway's seems like a battle with the Abit, Epox, Asus, and Gigabyte boards, on who's going to have the fastest board, and they tend to pass the trophy back and forth on each chipset. I guess mobo preference is like what kind of beer you drink, or brand of car you drive, it is personal preference or just well taken advice from someone you know and trust. If you have good luck with a certain brand and it does what you want it to......it was well spent money, no matter what anyone thinks.

UPS man just brought me a new Asus A7N8X with a stick of Corsair CMX512 3200C2, oh and a AMD 2500+. Couple weeks ago either my 950 or BCM board croaked. So I thought it was time to join the big boys. Also worth mentioning is the Antec case (plus1080AMG) I got to put it all in. I was really impressed with the way this thing is built. The removeable drive cages and and drive rails are cool. This one came with a 430 watt TruePower power supply. It is said to control the speed of the fans to only turn as fast as needed to cut down on noise. Hope this all works out, looks good on paper anyway.....lol. As you can see from my sig (if it's still there) this is a big jump from what I had.

I have an asus A7V133-C and am impressed and dissapointed at the same time. The chipest it uses (KT133-A) was exclusively disinged for thunderbird procs, but on the asus board it supports palimanos and throroughbreds. I am dissapointed with the fact that even though other people can get throughbreds to work with this board, I cant get them to work in mine.

I have an Antec Perf. Plus 660AMG and it is very quiet....just make sure you plug the case fans into the FAN ONLY connectors. I love the way it's built also, with the drive rails and removeable drive cage and the way it all comes apart so easily, very handy for cleaning.

As far as "What brand mobo?"....
I have 3 Asus boards...a P4B533-V and 2 CUSL2-C's. I'd love to upgrade to a Dual Channel DDR board but I'm currently jobless so I'll have to wait
