Thank you so much for the final! I am experiencing no issues with Cat 8.4 on Vista SP1 (x86): the whole runs fine and modding was a bit faster than the previous release. I have to do strange passages to obtain the dual display mode, but that's Catalyst related, as almost all my previous problems were.
Thank you once again!

I have the same problem: the powerplay doesn't recongnize the power configuration of the system and can't decide to maximize battery life or performance. The visualization itself is messed up and also shows a VariBright option that never showed up before with my ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 on Vista Business using previous drivers (i.e. catalyst 8.1). Thanks in advance for any solution.

ed_co still looking at that. I found some differences in like the M58 and M58GL so will look more at that if those differences are FireGL specific orso.

Hi all,
I'm running Mobility HD2600 on WinXP Pro (32-bit) right now, but I'm planning to switch to XP Pro X86-64. Is ModTool compatible with that OS?

Hi,
just a quick note about Catalyst 8.5(which is officially available now).
I was able to mod Catalyst 8.5(Vista32) with modtool and install it successfully.
So far I didn't notice any missing or buggy functionality
Keep up the great work!

Powerplay is not working
yea, i also have this problem with the powerplay missing.
Windows Vista x64, Catalyst 8.2 modded works fine. But Catalyst 8.3, 8.4 and recently, 8.5 (image below), powerplay is unable to work and no way to control the graphic card's power consumption. I hope the creator of Mobility modder can fix it soon! cheers!

Most times the ati driver hotfix are full drivers, so you would only need to mod those and install that.

Problem with ATI Mobility x600 on HP Notebook
Spike, what am I doing wrong?...
A year ago I got that dreaded " hardware deadlock and infinite loop" issue with my video, and have been on the net ever since, (running on windows' generic VGA drivers), searching for a solution. I've heard many suggestions and "fixes", but no real fix, so I finally got to you guys at DH and thought "Great!...this sounds like it'll finally work!" but to my not so new surprise, it didn't, so I'm wandering that, although I've followed your step-by-step instructions on your "modder page", I must be doing something wrong, as it sounds like others in the forum have had good luck with it, so here's what I've been doing thus far, step-by-step: - Tried to download the drivers from ATI, but ran their "installation verification software" first, just to find out that they "don't support it", so when I came across your instructions, I downloaded the latest Catalyst from DH.
- Downloaded and ran the modder against it, it passed the three "tests", so I thought, "Good!, it looks like this is finally a good fix!".
- Waited until the driver was modified.
- Installed the modified driver.
- Rebooted, then...the deadlock and loop are back!... as if I hadn't done anything!
The following is my system: - HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook
- Pentium4 - 3.5Ghz
- 2Gb RAM
- WindowsXP Professional - 32bit
- ATI Mobility Radeon x600 - 256MB Ram
- Lots of other "irrelevant" stuff.
Your modder is the best news I've heard so far, and believe me, I've been searching for a long time, so I hope that you can help me out...I want my 3D back, pleeease!
Sorry about the long explanation, and thanks in advance!

I have an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2400 and I have intalled this to taste the Age of Conan, but the results have been similars to the old ones and now I think itīs giving mw problems but with others programs (for example, I tried to upgrade Directx but I couldnīt, it have given me Error ) So... is there any way to go back? Thx for all.

Hemilyo, if you don't have a system backup, you can always do a System Restore to before you made the changes. If that doesn't fix it, I suggest to go to the Microsoft Forums, there's always someone who has had the same problems, good luck.

Hello driverheaven forum,
First of all: Great thanks for your effort, it makes working with my mobility radeon much better!
I've got the same problem with powerplay as already mentioned.
But there is additional information. Also the Driver from February (8.2) doesn't work fine. Thou powerplay IS available, the GPU DOES NOT switch in the battery-saver mode!! For this reason all Versions newer than 8.1 are not useful for my notebook
By the way: CCC works fine, the problem is the driver! I’ve now running CCC 8.4 but the driver from 8.1 (I know, it is not recommended) and it works satisfyingly.
I've got an ATI Mobility Radeon x1400.
It would be really great, if this problem could be fixed, because ATI did some important changes for the Vista-Driver in March 2008!
With kind regards,
sonny2

eltury, the best you can do is check the hp website and see if there are maybe like a bios update and if so use that. For the rest i don't know why it has that problem. From your story i read that you have it a long time, it could be some hardware problem.
For the powerplay i am still comparing drivers to see what ati changed.

As the others have said, *thank you for your work!*.
I also have the powerplay problem though, FYI - Catalyst 8.5, X1700, Vista, Asus F3JP.
Thanks.

Phate_cz, don't say things you don't know.
I am looking into the powerplay problem but can't find any big changes in the inf files that could cause it. So at the moment i have no idea how i could fix it. Also i am only 1 person that works on the program. But i keep looking at it.
If anybody has an idea what could cause it please tell.
