Average user doesn't need 2GB or ram.. probably not even 1GB- but I would like to have 64GB, why not? If it helps speed 1% while running all apps on the PC at one time someone will want it.

I have two with Vista Home Premium 64 and one with Ultimate 64. I don't intend to ever buy another 32 bit OS, but I still have many computers running XP Home. I was not going to buy Vista, but they didn't have a copy of XP64 so I bought one of the Vista HP 64's, found it to be much better than the beta and have had it about a month after Vista Release. All Mine are with SP1 now and have been since the narrow window on Update the first time.
I still have a XP64 machine too ... If it were DX10... it would be the sleeper.

Put Vista SP1 x64 on the PC I just built. I had a trouble free installation, and it seems to be better than XP in just about every way.

XP works just fine games play great ,I've heard horror stories about Vista and compatibility. Also the cost of a full version of Vista is more than I'm willing to spend.

Horror stories with Vista... I wonder how well Vista can handle old pc games? I often like to play games which is at least 5 years old. Then again, I have a pretty old computer by todays standard also.

What about the good old Warlords 3 Dark Lords Rising? It even crashes on my Windows XP system the last time I tried it.
Works excellent with Windows98!

Lets not go too much off-topic in here
Yeah I know that there are some games that wont run properly in Vista. As far as I know there aren't so many of them.

Switched back to Xp. I couldn't deal with the WDM.exe crashes and my internet randomly going offline for no reason whatsoever. Games ran decently and it was solid aside from that. I'll try again when I get a new motherboard.

Odd part is I didn't have these issues with Vista pre SP1, so it's either the service pack or one of the other drivers causing the problems. I'm guessing the Nvidia beta driver is the cause I'll give it another go when the new WHQL driver hits this week.

Currently I'm running Vista Ultimate 32bit on my main rig with a OC'ed Q6600.
Zardon, do you think I'd notice a benefit from 32bit to 64bit?

Just moved on Vista 64bit, and I like the expirience at the moment. No bugs happened yet, Very Stable.
Overall, its a really nice upgrade.

Eight gigs of RAM, oh mama! As expected it really makes a difference, and was worth it being the biggest spending point of my budget upgrade. The other day a game started up while the gaming harddrive remained asleep, that spells c-o-o-l.

Yes, I have now, my rig is more than capable of running Vista 100% and the OS has improved considerably over the last 12 months, it is now a better OS than XP and here are not many reasons other than cost to stick with XP now.
