noise on my 3870 x2
hi
So here is my problem. It is verry serious.
There is a noise comming out of my 3870x2. It is like if you would rub a needle on a steel. When i go and turn the dreamscene it starts or if there is anything moving on my monitor it starts. in games the soung is louder. It is like something wrong with connection. I tryed removing it and nothing. Will try with the other graphic to see if it is the MOBO or GPU.
any

Sounds like the cooling fan has some issues. Are the temperatures ok?

I'm not trying to sound patronising but are there any cables in or near the fans?
If moving cables doesn't solve it then it sounds like something on the card is making a bad connection if it sounds electrical.
I'd suggest getting an RMA

no the cables are as far sa they can be. that is the first thing that i was thinking about bad connection. the sound comes and goes. i know that the new Gpu cards send some noise from the cpu but the noise comming from my card is much louder. the card does have two cpu-s but still the noise should only comeout when the card is working (like in the game or 3d mark) ohh the temps are good and the score in 3d mark is ok (13K+). shipping the card back is a lot of money. need to send the card 2 states from mine (30-50€)

Sounds most like a noisy capacitor, and there is no fix for that other than RMA.

Why not try putting in a complaint and ask if they'll cover the shipping costs?

Its not necessarily a bad capacitor. My X800XT has had a sqealing capacitor for as long as I can remember but the card is rock solid stable under extreme load for weeks on end. I wouldn't worry too much if you can tolerate the noise. If you can't, turn your speakers up or RMA it.
You also might want to try a different graphics card if you haven't already, and make sure its not the motherboard making the noise.
