X1950GT AGP: Crap performance: Driver issue?

I'm currently running the latest Catalyst (8.4) on my Sapphire X1950GT, but performance is... eh... s**t...

I can barely run C&C3 with every setting on minimum, whereas I could run it perfectly fine at Mid-high when I first got this card. Team fortress 2 is barely playable, while it was perfectly fine a while back, and even games like Trackmania Nations are performing crappy.

Pretty sure it isn't the rest of my system (AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2GHZ, 1 GB RAM), so could it be a driver issue?

What motherboard are you using (brand, model and chipset)? Make sure you have installed the AGP drivers properly, otherwise you will get poor performance. Download the motherboard driver for your motherboard which should include the AGP driver, install it. Also check whether your gfx card is running in AGP 8x speed and set the AGP aperture size at least at 128 MB, preferably 256 MB (a too low setting, e.g. < 32MB can cause the gfx card to run in pci mode if I am right).

it has to do with is ati driver not his mobo..ati drivers sometimes do work for some games then they come out with a new driver and some games are not playable...go to ati site and look for a cat 8.4 hotfix..

Motherboard & AGP drivers are all fine, nothing to do with it, the card worked just fine on exact the same rig when I first got it. Aperture size & stuff, all checked it.

& i'll look for a hotfix, cheers.
