Mobility Modder Hits Final build !

The Driver Heaven Mobility Modder has had a long history and since its inception has received over 8,000,000 downloads. Thanks to support from the public and an array of beta builds, we have the first retail version released featuring a plethora of bug fixes and enhancements.

V 1.0.0.0 has a full installer method and has additional support over previous versions for:

Windows XP
ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5600
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 2700
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3450
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3470
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3650
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3850

Windows Vista
ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5600
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 2700
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3450
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3470
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3650
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3850

The program now uses MSXML 6 (was V4 in beta versions), this is preinstalled now within Windows Vista but if you are using Windows XP you can download it over here.

For full details of ALL the cards supported as well as the download links and support for installation, please visit the Mobility Modder Homepage over here.

Hi, I'm happy with, but only one comment.

Sadly, I thought that the drivers for mobility firegl v5600 uses the patched driver from hp, that uses the patched ati2mtag.sys from HP, not the original.

ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5600" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9581&SUBSYS_30DF103C

I said this 'cause in the .inf file, said ati2mtag_M76 and not ati2mtag_M76GL, and this is from HP, that uses the subsystem_id for difference them, but with a ati2mtag.sys patched for HP. I said this because if modtool use hp drivers to mod the original drivers, is not to useful for firegl v5600. Could you make it with a generic ati2mtag? (the generic doesn't have susbystemid and hp yes).
Like firegl v5200, 'cause have 2 options:
ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200 " = ati2mtag_M56, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C5&SUBSYS_30B4103C (hp solution, same id than x1600, different subsys id)

"ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200" = ati2mtag_M56GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C4 (non hp solution)

(I know that it have 2 differents IDs but, exists two versions).

Sorry for my english.

Congratulations, thank you so much and greetings.

ed_co i checked some hp compaq drivers and they used the same settings as ati2mtag_M76. But if you can point me to a driver with ati2mtag_M76GL in it i will look at it. The modtool does not use anything from HP drivers. It will use the files from the ATI driver oyu download.

foutiti67 check the link at the bottom of the first post. On that page you can download the modtool.

That's what I said. HP is the only driver that exist of mobility v5600 (or not?, if don't point me another, please). It's the configuration of hp exactly, with the subsystem id of the model, and the id of the hd2600. If you remove the subsystem id, what is the diference with a HD2600? In fact you can choose to install one of the two cards... and are the same drivers, then same performance (no firegl support), isn't it?

I don't know, I asked if you could make it.

Ok, I only ask you, because I don't understand too much about drivers.

Thank you for the reply. And good work, again.

Ruud, Allan,

Thanks very much for your efforts.

I own a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2550, which has a ATI mobility HD2700 graphics adapter. This is the fastest mobility graphics offered by ATI, and only with the help of the Moblity Modder I can use its full potential. Of course it is ridiculous that we have to rely on this tool in order to be able to use normal modern ATI drivers on our notebooks. Shame on ATI and the notebook manufacturers for this situation.

Before installing the new 8.4 drivers, I deinstalled the old ATI/Fujitsu drivers. After the reboot I also deleted the complete C:\ATI directory tree before I started to install the new 8.4 drivers.

Thanx author for this great tool!

I've applyed Mobility Modder Tool for Catalyst 8.4 for WinXP x86 driver.

I guess, these are the bugs:

"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 2600 XT" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9583
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 2700" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9583

(two cards cannot have same hardware id)

"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3450" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3470" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4

(the same bug)

I have a HD 2700, it has these hardware ids, and it is now presented as a HD 2600XT in the device manager.

So maybe the hardware ids for the HD 2600XT in the .inf file are incorrect, or HD 2700 is nothing else as a commercial name for a HD 2600XT with a higher clock rate?

iSmart and grunnsat, those id's are correct. The difference between the 3450 and 3470 is that the clockspeeds are higher on the 3470 and the memory used is DDR3 instead of DDR2. Both cards use the same driver and settings. So if you have a 3470 and the driver says 3450 then that is no problem, because the right driver is uses and the clockspeeds are still the same, because that is hardware related.

I thought that the HD2700 is indeed a rename of the DH2600XT with higher clock speeds. So they also uset he same driver and same settings, so that it says 2600XT is no problem.

ed_co i will look into making a ati2mtag_M76GL. Also firegl is just a name so not sure what the real difference is between a HD2600 and a FireGL V5600.

and in hd 2600 radeon mode:

I think that is REALLY DIFFERENT. But is the HP drivers, that is patched by HP, in the generic with the HP configuration, don't exist difference, because is not patched.

I have no idea what HP did with the driver, because they use the same settings in the inf file for the FireGL card and the HD2600 card.

The patch that hp did is in the ati2mtag.sys file. Compare same version of ati2mtag.sys in original and HP drivers.

I have Vista x32 and ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300.
I modded Catalyst 8.4 with MobilityModder 1.0.0.0. Catalyst installs fine and drivers are working.

But after modding videocard is listed in the .inf file as:
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300 " = ati2mtag_M54, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_718A

GPU-Z 0.1.9 identifies my videocard as M64.

And for the Mobility FireGL discussion. There are separate package of Catalyst for FireGL cards on ATI/AMD site in the driver section (not on game.amd.com). Maybe Mobility FireGL owners should mod these drivers? I heard that fireGL drivers are optimized for FireGL purporses (CAD drawing and stuf) and are different from regular Catalyst drivers.

The ati2mtag_M54 in the inf file just points the driver installation to what settings it should use. I think that if you check the original drivers you used that you will see the same in that inf file.

For the FireGL, I will download that driver and check to see if there are differences and maybe adjust the program a little to make it possible to edit those.

Just out of curiousity... does this work on Vista x64, with a 64-bit desktop driver download?

If so...

...I think it'd behoove a slight update on the Mobility Modder page to inform users what OSes of what "bitness" the tool works with.

Before SP1 it worked on Vista x64, because you could disable the driver signing check. So that you could install non WHQL drivers. I am still looking at how to disable that in SP1. So with SP1 installed it will not work on Vista x64. Without SP1 you should enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS in an elevated command prompt, like running the command prompt as administrator.

I beg to differ, I just installed SP1 on Vista Business 64bit, then modded and installed the Catalyst 8.2 drivers. It works just fine with my Mobility X1600! Even though it says that the driver is not digitally signed

Just one problem though, the driver is convinced that I have 1471 mb hypermemory. Editing the INF with the MM or by hand doesn't change this

Because the only mod that you have is in the .inf file, if you modify the .sys, you can't install them (I think).
I hope that Spike could made the firegl ati2mtag_M76GL, without patch any file, using the original files, and so we can install them in Vista 64.

Fiah, i think your notebook also uses shared memory. So part of your main system memory will be used by the videocard when needed.

ed_co, still looking into it, but it looks that by all drivers the .sys file is modded.

If I understand well (sorry for my english, it's very difficult for me to understand perfectly that you said), you said that when you patch a driver with mobility mod, ati2mtag is patched too (for all cards)?

Thank you.

ed_co, no i mean that HP patches the .sys file. Mobility Modder does not edit the .sys files.

Ok, that I said, if you could make an ati2mtag_M76GL, comparing the other mobility firegl and understanding that HP patched, and only make a .inf changes, it could works in vista 64.
