I used this method on my 60GB and it worked quite well. I clean my place every single day and I was surprised at the dust that came out of it.

lol, what did you expect to see? A cloud of dust? As for helping clean it out a little I would personally take the above method over compressed air any day. Also how often would you do this? Every six months? Once a year? Its not something that hurts it, you are just turning it...
I can't say that this will make your PS3 faster but it did quiet mine down a little

How would a fan moving burn up your CPU / GPU? That just makes no sense.

no not a cloud of dust, but it wouldve been quiet simple for him to zoom in on this dust that came out of his console and show us a shot of it

Neat old trick but don't trust the drive.
a) condensation is not a problem other than the external circuitry as the internal is sealed.
b) the freezing shrinks the platters and head mechanism a tiny bit that will often break "stiction" free

The other day I spent three hours trying to bring a hard drive back from the dead. I believe the drivers got all @#%ed up, and even when a utility could see the drive, it couldn't mount or format it. I tried SCSIProbe, Hard Disk ToolKit, Hard Disk SpeedTools, Drive Setup and Silverlining Pro, all to no avail.
Then I remembered reading the other day that putting a dead drive in the freezer for a while may bring it back to life, even if only for five minutes (hopefully long enough to transfer your most critical data).
I left the drive in the freezer for about two hours, then very quickly (to avoid condensation forming) plugged it into an external box. Some of the utilities could now see it (when they couldn't before), but that's all. However, Silverlining Pro was now able to totally reformat the drive. I've since run a number of tests on the drive, and it passes with flying colours.
The question I now have is this: How the hell did this work? Any theories?

Hard Drive in Your Freezer to Recover Data
Both a technology urban legend, as well as a fact of physics -- putting your hard drive in a freezer can work to "repair" your hard drive long enough to pull your information off of the drive. It can be used as a last ditch effort when your hard drive has crashed and left you in a bind -- providing up to two hours of time to pull the data off!
This technique usually works with damaged or problematic hard drive where the failure was not of a mechanical nature. The reason for this is that by lowering the temperature you are changing some of the chemical / physical aspects to the drive - head geometry, electrical resistance is lowered, and the electrical contact points are adjusted. All of these can add up to a temporary (and possibly permanent if you repair or re-format the hard disk) working solution for you valuable data!
In fact, it is a technique that many data recovery specialists have known about for years. So, I explain all of this to tell you of my recent experience with trying to pull some data off a hard drive.
If you recall, my Lenovo T61 laptop gave me the 'Error: 2110 HDD0 (Hard Disk Drive)' error a couple of weeks ago leaving me without a working drive. Giving me no other choice after trying to slave the drive to another machine, the freezing the hard drive was my last chance.
For those who have not experience the trick, here are the important steps that give you the opportunity for this to work. Pictures below are from my actual test.

SLB: Hard Drive in Your Freezer to Recover Data
This trick has worked for some of my friends dead drives a couple of times, just make sure the drive is in a ziploc bag.

That doesn't CLEAN it, as you said. That lets it work for a little bit.

Could work permanently afterwards if you format it. rtm. Should have put "cleans" in quotes to avoid confusion lol. Obviously I didn't mean actual dirt.
