Anyone going to pick up Age of Conan (MMO)?
Man I think this game is looking great. If anyone has played the beta I sure would like to hear from you.

I am not going to, but that is because I despise the idea of paying a tax to a company month in month out to play a game.

I'm with BlueMak. Otherwise, I'd love to play this game.
IMO, MMO's with monthly fees should cost no more than $5 retail, that way they're more appealing to get into and the developers will be more motivated to make a quality online experience if they want to keep your money coming.

I'm sure Warhammer will have a fee and so does LOTR. But LOTR did a deal where you can pay $100 and never have to pay a fee again.

i agree that MMOs should have a far lower retail price and be next to nothing if you download the game online.

that was 200 for founders, and now its 300 for everyone.
and yes, it pisses me off to no end that i have to buy a game for 50 bucks, and then have to pay 10-15 a month to play the damn thing.
i did it with lotro, but i dont see it ever happening again.

I applied for the beta well over a month ago and haven't heard from EA Since. sound absolutely fantastic to me... [/sarcasm..]
LoTR online still has a monthly fee as far as i'm aware, as does Tabula Rasa and pretty much every other MMO except Guild Wars (which is fucking fantastic btw.) The best MMO Still out there though is WoW, don't bother with anything else because all they're doing is copying and ultimately failing to be better than WoW. I signed up for a 10 day trial then ran into keighley yesterday to pick it up at argos for £9.99. I still get to play out the rest of my trial with full communication capability (IE. Whispering, chat channels, auction house ect.) And then i start the month's free play
Little personal story here about GW, The leader of the guild i'm in has had to leave the game due to work and family commitments, he messaged me last night saying he considers me the most trustworthy member of the guild since we've been playing through a lot of missions together so he turned the Guild and the guild hall over to me
If any of you are looking for a guild you can join the one i'm running now, GSoE (Golden Sunspears of Elona)

not entirely true. Warhammer has/is been/being built around PvP (and RvR) whereas WoW was being built on a PvE basis. that should mean Warhammer is alot more balanced and challenging. anyway. I applied for a Beta too, but paying a monthly fee just to keep playing isn't really my thing... sadly enough. Would love to play that game.
As far as Conan goes. I have nothing with the character and don't think I'll play the game.

WoW is far to boring.....
It's for lack of a better word.... kiddish at best...
Now LineageII.... you want to find something hard... play that, you won't find a tougher game out there to play atm.
PvP out of this world lol.
Anyways, EA makes conan, my hopes of it being any good are instantly in the negative value....
I'm waiting on a closed beta invitations for www.stargateworlds.net

I think WoW is a great game...one of the best pc games ever imo.
As for Conan, I think Eidos is the publisher and Funcom is the developer. Does EA own Eidos? They own everything else but anyway, Eidos didn't come in until later in development...like 3 years in.
This is totally an adult mmo. It's got an adult rating due to nudity and violence. This was because they were trying to stay true to the original Conan books by Robert E Howard and from what I'm seeing they have done a good job.
I think people look past it because it's got the "Conan" name but honestly I can't think of a better world to create for an mmo.
At least check it out before you just pass it up...it's got some serious potential imo.

I used to think that the monthly fee was a bad thing, but try any of the free MMO's like Archlord or Silkroad and you will see that you get what you pay for.
In the instance with those two games. The gameplay is not that bad, but it's not that good either. You also have to deal with an "item mall" where people that want to spend real money on the game are going to outgear you all the time. Also, these games are a huge grindfest. You are also dealing with pretty low budget programming, very few servers, a huge population, and lag lag lag....
I would rather pay for a game like WoW where they can afford to add additional hardware and bandwidth to keep the game going. Also, I took almost a year off of WoW. I came back and my account with all my characters is still there and I have not lost anything. So as a paying customer I won't have to worry about my account suddenly vanishing.
It's something to think about. I would go with the 1 time fee for sure, but the game would have to be pretty damn good for that. I was in the LOTRO beta and the game was OK, but I didn't think it was good enough to warrant paying a lifetime fee.

I would but there are currently two problems: 1 I don't have a good enough PC (yet). 2 WHY CHARGE 60 EUROS to buy the package WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY 15 PER MONTH ANYHOW?
