Audigy 1 and YouPax drivers - need help

Hello,

To be short: I have SB Audigy (SB0090). XP detects card (as 'audio multimedia controler' + 'mass storage controller' + '1394 network card'). But I can not find ANY original creative drivers which can detect my card.

I tried to install YouPax drivers but also without success. When I launch setup from CD prepared from 'Audigy4Pro.ISO' I receive this message:
"An error (-5009 : 0x80040702) has occured while running this setup".

Maybe I do something wrong during instalation process? Anybody had similar situation?

Please, help.

Regards,

Did you try gateway drivers? Sound it could be from gateway audigy sound card.

You can try out Daniel K's driver for the Audigy series:
*UPDATED* Unofficial Audigy Series Software CD for Win2000 / XP / Server 2003 / Vista 32/64-bit

I have try it, it works perfectly on my Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS.

As for the error, maybe you have to clean the older CL drivers and registers with the Driver Cleaner pro before installing any Youpax drivers.

Good luck!

Here what you need to do. Uninstalled from Device Manager then restarted to safemode then run driver cleaner. Then try installed driver force threw driver area of the program instead of setup.

Robert,
Please explain what you mean in your last sentence: "Then try installed driver force threw driver area of the program instead of setup." english is not my native language and sometimes I can not understand exact meaning of the sentence

As far I can understand I should do:
1. remove all drivers using standard XP device manager (I removed also drivers from creative camera - just in case)
2. restart in safe mode and swep remainings of drivers using Driver Cleaner.

an there starts my doubts...

3. restart comp in normal mode?
4. what drivers should I use? CD prepared from 'Audigy4Pro.ISO' with your drivers (I downloaded ISO from there)?

Please give ma a hint.

PS Anybody have a valid link to Daniel K's drivers for Audigy/XP?

Regards,
Daniel K's unofficial install cd for Audigy series (Windows 2000/XP/Vista 32/64bit)

Unzip it, write the iso on a cd-r/rw or mount the image via a virtual cd software, e.g. daemon tools etc.

Good luck!

Strange things happened

I tried to install only Youpax drivers (not Suite) and found interesting thing: drivers "YouP-PAX-AX-V4.08A" can not detect card but "Youp_Pax-XFI-V4.07" can do that. But at the end of instalation I can see infomation that "device can not be started" (or something similar). In Device manager card moved to section "audio, video and games controllers" with desctioption that it uses YouPax driver. I manualy deleted it (do not used this time Driver Cleaner) and rebooted system.
When XP detected 'new hardware' I let XP do search drivers without my ingerention. I don't know how but XP found drivers and installed them. But it was not the YouPax drv but Creative. XP asked me to reebot and after that Audigy started to work. Driver has description: Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM), date: 2004-09-24, version: 5.12.2.445

My Audigy now work like original Audigy But question - how to install Youpax drv (and which version) to softmod it to Audigy 4? I'm afraid that if something goes wrong with YpuPax instalation I will loose lot of time to bring my card to life again. So if you have checked way how to do it let me know.

Hello friends,

The issue: for some reason only known to Creative, in certain cases the hardware id substring (a number used to identify the model number of your card) on the original Audigy sound cards becomes corrupted. This is described in more detail here: Anomaly in the Audigy PCI Subsystem ID register. The driver setup program will then no longer allow you to install the drivers since 'a supported product can't be found'.

Now, let me point out that in my opinion
1. Creative ought to let you install any of their drivers for any pci card YOU decide, instead of forcing the installer to exit if a supported product supposedly can't be found.
2. Should take their responsibility and fix/replace the Audigy cards exhibiting this issue, or release drivers with a solution. The fact that this an older sound card is no excuse, since this is clearly an issue experienced by quite a number of people (search google).

However, there is one simple solution:
1. Install the excellent freeware Kxproject drivers (located at Official kX Project Site -- News). They will actually identify your card correctly, and also give better sound quality and many additional features Creative never bothered to make available (but which are supported by the chip on the card). This is the preferred solution since it's not to hard to install & configure these drivers.

If, however, you use Vista x64 (like I do), you're out of luck. Kxproject does not support x64 os-es. But, oh joy, I've found a solution! I assume this will work with the youpax drivers as well. Of course, they'll probably have different .inf files.. but you should be able to figure it out..

1. Download the driver package for the Audigy card from Creatives website
2. Open the .exe file in an archiving utility (eg. PowerArchiver), and extract the files somewhere
3. Open the extraction dir and go to the Drivers\wdm\ subdirectory
4. Open wdma_emu.inf in notepad
5. Press ctrl+F and do a search for "; Audigy, Audigy 2" (without the " of course)
6. Once you've found it, press enter, and on the next line paste
"%Audigy.DeviceDesc%=Audigy_Device,PCI\VEN_1102&DE V_0004&SUBSYS_00401102" (without ")

-- This adds the corrupted hardware id to the list of allowed model numbers for the driver installation, enabling you to install the drivers anyway. If your corrupted id is different (look for the Details > Hardware ids tab in Device manager where your card is listed) copy the line "%Audigy.DeviceDesc%=Audigy_Device,PCI\VEN_1102&DE V_0004&SUBSYS_00xxxxxx" (where xxxxxx is the number specific to your situation) instead. --

7. Repeat for the next "; Audigy, Audigy 2" line, and again, and again (so a total of 4 times). Smart people only need to do this step once, since it's only necessary for the section which applies to you ([Creative.NTX86.6] for x84 systems, [Creative.NTIA64.6] for itanium, [Creative.NTAMD64.6] for x64)
8. Save the file
9. Manually search for drivers in the device manager 'update driver' option, select the Drivers\wdm subdir and presto. Your drivers will finally install!
10. Run setup.exe located in the \Drivers subdir to tie up loose ends and complete the install.

You won't get all the creative bloatware this way (I haven't been able to fix the actual setup.exe program), but everything else will work fine and you'll be able to use your precious Audigy you paid good money for. If you want the FireWire/Gameport to work I fear you're out of luck too.. but vista wouldn't detect them for me anyway.

Good luck! You can reply or mail me (through the forum) if anything is unclear. And, in closing: shame on you, Creative.
