gameport support?
Hi,
I've installed kx driver 3541 in a clean win XP Pro install.
When installing the driver I'm used to have three dialog pop ups, which ask me whether to install:
1. driver for the soundcard
2. driver for the gameport
3. vst plugin
second step is missing.
now I have an unkown device in windows device management.
why?
kind regards

kammajaega, I don't know but I've noticed that Creative no longer supports the game port due to some stability issue at least for some cards under Vista. I'd just guess that maybe Eugene chose the same path. I don't have a page to show but I read about it in Creatives notes on an earlier driver.

E. has removed the inf file since version 3540. You can find the notice about in the release notes: "Removed joystick INF file, since it did not work anyway".

Which link is the one giving you problems (i.e. the link is to the main site, where you have to follow a few links to get the file)? Try this one.

That's intresting. I use to have the 3GB+ issue, but for me it's been fixed since 3540. Hm :-\
What sort of hardware are you using, and which version of vista? Perhaps that'll help figure out why.
I've got a 965P based motherboard + core2duo, and vista SP1 as above. For previous ( <3540 ) versions I tested with Vista gold.

On A2ZSNB SB0530 the Mic/Line Selector in kX-Mixer still behaves reversed: on MIC the LINE input is active and vice versa.

SB0240 + front panel - after instalation, and every reboot Windows is looking for drivers for "pci input device". By the way I had no problems douring using previous drivers version - 3539.

The pci input device is the joystick port, use an old joystick port driver from an older kX-package and install it, then the message should go away.

Ok, so the reason my sound was working is that the default output in multimedia properties is 'Wave Out HQ' which works fine, except for non functional volume controls.
If I change the default device to 'Master Mixer' (is this equivalent to 'Wave 0/1' in XP?), then sound does not work. Get weird random sounds.
I tried the FX Bus 4/5 to top of xrouting trick, but all I get is full volume noise (whatever is in the buffer looping). Also get oddities if I make 4/5 etc default.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem with the driver?

EDIT: Turns out the HQ output setting is actually all I really need. The main windows volume control is the only one that affects the L/R analog outs, which is fine. My speaker setup is 2.1, so using my new knowledge (thanks to people in DSP forum for HQ outs explanation) I setup a basic EQ for the LFE out.

Yay! I can use vista again (4GB ram upgrade stopped me with 3539)
PS: Whatever Q does, it makes the subwoofer sound incredibly crap, or even delayed, when set to a high value..
BELOW:
alpinemobile: sorry, edited post... didnt realise someone had quoted me, browser had cached the page. I guess its not just me with the problem then, tho perhaps we shouldnt be setting master mixer as default? confused.
Russ: fun thing is the level does not change if I turn it down in winamp. However it drops to ~-114 if i close winamp altogether. The level is quasi random, each time I start winamp (once I had the right channel at -114, and left +6).

If I do that, at first, I also have no sound. But if I press play repeatedly (random number of clicks) in the audio player, after a while it starts making noise again.

@dxg
If you are going to connect FxBus 4/5 to the top of xrouting, you should also disconnect where 4/5 normally connects to (5th/6th pins of xrouting).
The audio looks a little hot coming out of Fxbus 4/5 (especially the right channel)... I am not sure what that is about, but there is a possibility of clipping.
There may still be some other issues with the windows mixer, as I noticed that if I set 4/5 as default, I got some odd results (no audio or audio is mono-only (i.e. only one channel), until I played around with the wave slider). It only happened the first time, so I do not have much details, but try playing with the wave slider in both Windows mixer (for 4/5) and kxmixer.
As for WaveHQ, there is an option under kX settings (Driver compatibility) for 'P16v volumes follow 10k2 epilog' which may give you control over volume (I do not have Vista nor a 10k2 card, so I cannot test any of this myself).

3541 on Win2003, Audigy 2
Hey Guys,
I have a problem with SPDI/F on a win2k3 installation - 3538 worked in the past, and so do the creative drivers.
1. I get the VU Meter showing sounds, so does the analog out.
2. no kind of sound through SPDIF, though receiver shows it's getting ditial input.
3. Creative drivers only gave me 2.0 audio spdif - but wouldn't pass AC3..
Any help?
Thx,
Ariel

Yes. With the HQ outs as default, it works.
Also:
Spotted a small UI bug: If I change the DSP window size to small, the close button disappears. If I move the mouse over where it should be, it reappears. Just looks like it doesn't get drawn, or something is drawn on top of it..
Also note the repeating "Always On Top".
