Lan Controller Help.....

I'm putting together a computer for a friend and he bought P5B-MX motherboard and I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to get the lan controller working on it.

The OM says that the board has a Realtek Gigabit Lan Controller on the board and the drivers that come on the installation cd are something for an Attsanic Ethernet controller and say they can't find any such controller on the board. Would anybody know where I can find the correct lan drivers for this board? Appreciate your help in this matter.

I found this page over at Realtek. Dou you think one of these drivers would fit the bill?

LAN should be the Attansic L1 (Gigabit), and the audio from Realtek (ALC883 HD). However, Attansic has since been bought up by Atheros, so any new drivers you see will be with the Atheros branding. If the Attansic driver isn't installing then it could be that you need the Atheros version of the driver. If you check out Asus' download links for the LAN driver (quick link on THIS page, left side) scroll past the first listings that say Attansic (old drivers from 2006), and you should see the listings change to Atheros branding (newest drivers - 2008). Plus if you keep scrolling down even further you will see updated Attansic drivers (as of 2007) just after the Atheros ones, so if the 2006 versions of the Attansic drivers don't install be sure to try those.

If the CD Is the original that came with the motherboard then there shouldn't be a problem if you just install those drivers.
Like Tipstaff says, it's probably just branding so don't worry about it, should work fine.

I have called TigerDirect with my problem about the Lan Controller and the tech I talked to suggested returning the board for a replacement. My neighbor did so and I put the replacement in today and when I booted into windows the Lan Controller was picked up instantly and I installed the drivers and my neighbors computer is of and running. It turned out to be a defective board. So problem solved. Thanks for your comments and suggestions, guys. Appreciate it.
