bah, 15 minutes into the installation and I get an error - internal blah blah message. Looks to be quite common and their is a topic with resolutions on the MS Windows site. Can't be arsed at the moment, might have another try later.

A slipstreamed disc is floating around on the internet.
It was released to Technet and MSDN subscribers.

Installed SP1 and everything's running great! Took me about 20 minutes, though... Restarted twice!

Now it actually shows, for aesthetic purposes, that I've got 4.0Gb of RAM in my system, woohoo! (only thing I've noticed so far, lol)

Anyway... I like it.

We are networking enterprise right now in our classrooms and upgrading our XP installations, SP1 will just have to wait for now, what is the biggest bang for the buck in terms of SP1 except bitlocker perhaps and some networking enhancements and maybe DX10 enhancements for developers, otherwise I just "yawn", will wait till we get it from our military sources.

Great, now I get the infamous: Code 80073712. Failed 1 update.

Slightly amused that they have given the error a code yet a search with microsoft reveals no solutions or topics. Now thats future proofing, creating error codes for errors that don't even exist yet. Who said microsoft aren't ahead of the game.

Luckily i'm switching to 64 bit from the 11th of April so I'm not even going to try and resolve this.

I just installed SP1 and the first thing i noticed was that my ventrilo and itunes did not work. Ventrilo was simple, I just set my Input and Output device to my headphones like they should be. I cant get itunes to work though, its playing the music, but i cant hear it. Anyone have this problem?

could be your sound drivers then if the music is "playing" but no sound is coming out

Vista + sound drivers = eesh...
Try getting a new version of the drivers

Thats what I thought the problem was. But my headsets have their own sound card (as in its outside the computer, using DSP card on my headphones), could that even be updated?

Installed yesterday, had one issue with A BSOD in Medieval 2 Total War, reinstalling the new x-Fi drivers sorted it though...

So far I've seen the following noticeable changes

- Ram is 4.00GB instead of 4094mb (whatever...)
- File transfer speed from drive to drive (including external USB solutions) is like 50% faster (I kid you not... I really don't see what was slowing things down before)
- Boot time increased by a good 12 seconds.
