That would be a kewl option.... if not included in this tool, perhaps a new one, specific to that set of needs.

Disaster,
I used Driver Cleaner on my PC and since I can't install a driver for my AIW Radeon.
For the new version of catalyst I've got the infsetup error...
For older driver the original one, the instalation goes all the way, but after restarting the PC I've got an error messages saying that ATI Control Panel can't be started because there is no ATI Driver.

You should make the layout/operation of drivercleaner easier, it's kinda confusing for stupidhead's like me.

@Krisp I will look into it. I heard more about some win98 problem. I think it is win98 that makes it, i will see if i can program around it.
@tek Can you give a suggestion, so maybe describe how it would be easier.

On XP, the DriverCleaner worked only half. It tells a lot of files not found, but they're in the
\system32 directory, for sure. Else, if you uninstall the current driver it can't be cleaned at the
very moment, since it is still in use. After rebooting the cleaning should be possible, but the notebook
tries to install a new (the same of course) driver for the newly found hardware. Else, XP has a dll-cache,
where copies of the ATI dll are stored. These are also not effected by the cleaner.
After cleaning most of the ATI files are still in their proper places...
On a notebook like mine there's no possibility to install a standard VGA driver at first. You have to chose
the ATI legacy driver by Microsoft or the genuine driver from ATI.
What to do?

Like when you first start DC1.5, you see nothing in those boxes.. its just blank, I say when the DC1.5 starts, it automatically starts scanning for ATI files, and even when it finds those files.. I was confused about what to do, I clicked 'Clean' and only 1 or two files dissapeared, and on the bottom box there was still the file there.. I just dont understand this program completely.. lol, so I just click buttons, and I guess it works.. I dunno man.. its hard to explain.

i have a similler problem with d.c 1.5.
reason is my windows xp wrer a pre-installed version when purchased with my pc when first booted up set up windows as the usuall way name/company etc.then created smart restore disks to give me my windows xp disk(2 cd's)
this is were the problem starts it allready has nvdia dets 2,4,2,7 whql not + on the version.
everytime i uninstall drivers restarts it automatically install the same driver without being unable to stop proccesof install.
does anybody either know of a way to disable automatic installation or know of a patch to do the samething.

I think the problem is that there is some directory on your hard drive that does it. You should do a search for files and than look for nv*.* and see if it comes up with something and can you tell than what is finds.

@infiniter can you give me exact places where files are left so i can improve my cleaning file. You can also mail me at spike@driverheaven.net and tell me in what directories what files are and more what is left. I have no experience with notbooks so maybe it is installed different. Hope you want to help me.
@tek When you start the program you see a drop down box. There are the cleaning files that are by Driver Cleaner. Under that are 2 empty boxes. In those boxes will be files and directories displayed that are deleted or couldn't be found. Also the program will delete registry keys that are left, only those are not displayed. So it is simple just select the cleaning file in the drop down box and than press clean. That are the main steps.
@DocterDee i will see if i can add support for that. It is not easy, but i will give it a try.

@Spike
Surely, I would help you. The problem is, the notebook is defective at the moment and before the
damage I managed to install the modified driver (thanks to DHModTool) successfully. It runs smooth
and therefore I won't change the installation anymore. At least, for now.
Anyway, thanks again for the intention to help people out with this tool.
Bye...
infiniter (:O)
