yes it is ccleaner doing it. My question is though, has something changed with the way logging on goes at DH? it never did that before, and also a couple of other sites i log into still keep me looged in after i run ccleaner, so seems not to much has changed in the ccleaner area? not the end of the world really but curious none the less

By a quick test it seems that CCleaner deletes all cookies in Opera if it's set to clean out Operas cookies, regardless of the "Cookies to Keep" -list. I suppose that list only supports IE cookies. Run CCleaner without the setting to delete cookies from Opera.

the option is already unchecked, has been defaultly since i used ccleaner, it would always clean out the history and close any tabs i had open but it would never mess with the logins, and like i said i am logged into other sites currently and ccleaner does not affect them.

To WhO_KnOwS: If you are reading this could you please answer to my PM? I'm still interested in how you solved the front page text spacing problem in Linux...
Edit: Never mind, I got rid of it (I mean Linux)...

i agree^ i really miss being able to go directly to last post in current topics from main page to. it was a quick easy way to kepp up on subscribed forums. same goes for reviews. sevearal things have become more difficult - meaning having to open more pages to get to the same place. dont know if this by design to get more advertising $$ but it is a small pain.
overall, i really dont like new format. there is less info available on main page, for whatever reason you only utilise 2/3 of page so it 'seems' cramped & imo, overall, it looks more like one of those sites whose main/only purpose is to advertise instead of being a dedicated tech site with awsome forums.
i realise you got to make $$ but i would hope there would be a more subtle way. dont know wether its true, but it appears advertising is taking up over a 1/3 of the page.
ill always be a dh fanboy, but i do find myself wanting to visit less & less becuase it is actually work finding the limited info on main page over the glaring comercials. while i realise this is standard for getting advertising dollars, i still find it annoying.
pls dont get me wrong guys, i want you to make $$, lots of it . but you have to watch the fine line between promoting your financial interests & turning peeps away from the site because it appears to be losing its 'soul'( i know thats dramatic but couldnt think of another term ).
anyway, just my 2 cents.

I will shortly be tweaking the recent threads box frontpage, I will alter the links so that they point to the last unread post in that topic, if you're new to the topic you'll be at the top, if you've already seen it, you'll go to the post you haven't seen yet.
I'll also add a link to 'New Posts' which takes you to the full list of unread/new topics. This link if you're in the forum area can be found at the top where it shows you the forum location DriverHeaven.net > Forums > Off Topic etc, just below that centred in the links. Marking forum's read is now done under the quick links menu to the right of that option and will remain that way.
Thanks for your patience through these times of changes.
Craig

Ok, I need this explained because im a little confused here as to what exactly you are needing for reviews, because now we have the ability to publicise our own reviews much better and we even have links to other new reviews within the current review people are reading, making it easier to navigate similar content - this has happened all over the site. As for the front page being less centralised around the forum, this is intentional and it has nothing to do with money. We are trying to keep the front page and the forum more as individual entities rather than a merged mess, which I felt to some extent the front page was before. I think a lot of the issues people are having (which seem to be less and less as we alter things) are really more people being stuck in a rut and being used to accessing forum specific settings from the front page. With regards to advertising $$$ I shall address that shortly as I want to spend the time answering your questions. Craig answered some issues above.

No. I am sorry, I value your opinion as a long standing member Mike but I do not agree with this. There are actually no more ads front page than before. we have a MPU which is switchable and allows us more alternatives than before. except for this all the ads are the same. We DO listen to you guys, we removed intellitxt script text advertising, we removed ads with sounds and we do value your views. We however simply can not stop advertising, because we now employ 10 people. It isn't widely advertised by myself because there is no need to do so, but when you are paying 10 peoples salaries to give you more content and more competitions etc, how are we do this? I guess I could sell my body on the street, might make a few quid

Because the front page is more "condensed", the old page scrolled for about 8000 pixels and the ads were only at the top. This was a problem that we took on feedback. people wanted a page with information more at hand with easy to click tabs. not having to scroll with a mouse wheel to see information. As I have said the ad count is actually the same barring one additional square box ad which we hope will help cover peoples salaries. As much as I would love to say im putting all this money in my back pocket for a rainy day, this simply isn't the case. We also have more sites on the go for this year and next year. Expansion is important if we want to grow our business.

Well again I point you to the above regarding advertising dollars. I am genuinely sorry to hear you are visiting less and less but there really is nothing I can do to change your mind as I know some people who have been here a long time will miss the old three tables with long vertical scrolls. I feel the new system is now better and once we roll in some more changes it will be even better again. We are moving forward, things change, its life.

Well going on your $$$ comments its more like $20,000 cents and I hope my replies have perhaps made some impact into your way of thinking, because its not me spinning the truth, it is in fact just the truth. We are attending events the world over (CES, CEBIT etc), getting more hardware, running more competitions, more reviews, gamingheaven expanding, other sites going to be opening soon. Surely this is a positive thing?
if that is "losing its soul", well then im not really sure what to say to that, Driver Heaven is not really "my hobby site" anymore, and hasn't been for a while. I still try to make sure im in here in the forums dealing with everyone face to face but the site is now a full business and has been for a while, and with that things change. I think its all for the better, but obviously everyone will have a different view on that.
All I can go on is feedback, and initially when the site changed over, it wasn't very positive, and I understand why. Then we fixed things, and still are, and feedback is more positive.
All I can really do is listen, do what I can to appease as many people as possible, while making sure we move ahead with our plans, expansions and future goals.
Thanks Mike, hope you stick around buddy.

thx for replies z.
the 'reviews' thing' was basically the same issue as the 'last post thing'. lol. looks like it will be fixed.
as far as the adds & space goes, i used the terms 'appears' & 'seems' becuase i figured it was as u explained. dont like it, but will get use to it
guess i am old & 'stuck in a rut'.
anyway thx for clearing things up some, appreciate it. ill definetly be around... though some may wish i wasnt

so, i was thinking if the "driverheaven's heaven" forum section be retitled. i think it should read, "driverheaven's heaven, 56k beware!" or something similar since pix is what is loaded up there mostly.

ok, well i really didn't mean to insult you buddy. Was just saying that last comment wasn't really a bug report or anything really that important. I mean if we add "56k beware" it encompasses the site feedback forum, heavenly echoes etc which wouldn't be too clever. I think people expect pictures in the heavenly visions forum and if people post pictures in the off topic they would tend to mark them for 56k users already....... agree?

oh, i wasn't insulted in any way. and yes, you're right about that already. people going there are to expect images.
i was just making the comment because temeteus added the "56k beware" header to like one of the very few posts i make in there. i was just thinking to myself exactly what you just said, people should go in there expecting images.
but enough of my off-topicness in the new site feedback thread!
