3D Acceleration Not Detected

Hi. I have Sony Vaio, model VGN-S260, with ATI Mobility Radeon 9200.
I downloaded the 8.3 version catalyst using the modifier, and I tried to get in game, but it says my 3D acceleration is disabled, so I need to enable it.
So I ran the dxdiag and went to the Display tab, but then I noticed that
I did not have 3D Acceleration, because it says I don't have the full version?
I don't know what I did wrong.

thx in advance
-Rinex.

Also I got few errors with driver (just pop-ups) when I started the computer but it started to go away, so I guess that's not a big deal.

Well anyways I downloaded the 3D accelerator, after googling it and It says "unable to download, check the log KB888656 in c:/WINDOWS .... any idea what that is?

FIX: Update to enable DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) of Windows Media Video content in Windows Media Player 10
that's where I got the download.

And I did some research, and found out that old ATI driver card does this?
I have full version of the driver downloaded and directx 9.0...
well and I also want to becareful downloading a graphic driver because of what happened before,
my computer gets errors and turns off automatically after i download a driver that doesn't fit.
I definitely dont want that happening again.

Well whatever you can do to help,
thx in advance - Rinex.

try reverting to your manufacturer's drivers, if that doesn't work, go find the heaviest hammer you can use and pound that thing until it "works"

ok seriously, if worst case comes by, go and reformat. if that doesnt work, then it has to be a hardware issue and that thing is running on its last limbs.
