HD3870 Crossfire

I have:
Mobo: MSI K9A Platinum
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9600 Quad-Core Processor 2.3GHz @ 2.6GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM OCZ Crossfire approved
Video Card: two MSI ATI Radeon HD 3870 OC Edition Crossfire
Operating System: Windows Vista

and i get really low frames i get the same amount of frames as only one 3870 i checked that everything is connected and that the crossfire is enabled and i get really low frames

im really angry because a friend of mine has one HD3850 and he gets the same frames as my two HD3870

can anyone help?

System Specs

What games are you playing and are you running them on high quality settings? Crossfire and SLI may not be so beneficial unless the games are run at higher resolutions and quality settings. Some games aren't dual GPU friendly either depending on how they are coded.

On a side note, 2GB RAM may be on the low side for some games under Vista. As RAM prices are low today I'd plan to get some more for that system.

Have you tested the newest catalyst drivers? Cat 8.3

i have tested the 8.3 and the same thing
Ive tested in counter strike source, COD4, UT3, and crysis and i get the same amount of frames as if i had one card

UT3 is correctly scaling with my hd3870's crossfired...

i wouldn't be able to play 2560x1600 very well at all if it wasn't..

try disabling crossfire.... then completely uninstalling the drivers.... and then rebooting and reinstalling the drivers again.

Is it at all possible to disable crossfire in a HD3870X2? I can't find anywhere to do it in CCC.
