What the hell is wrong with society today?
I was watching Sky News this morning and there was a story on a woman who got drugged then gang raped in her own home by a group of guys, while her kids were in the background crying. They were filming it and then they posted it on youtube and before youtube took it down, 600 people had viewed it without reporting it. Hopefully the idiots got some got shots of their own faces and they get hunted down.
Just as well im not in charge of the government, I would bring back castration. sick b@stards.

Judge Dredd is what is needed.
Their parents shoud also be held responsible for these acts. IMO bad parenting is the leading cause of having people getting so fucked up that they do such things.

You are right.
But just look at this forum, when you are GIVING stuff away people still feel they have the right to be hostile, aggressive and demanding. Absolutely no respect for anyone else right now in society in general.

I've said that the UK's steadily going mental, Perhaps it's time to run away to somewhere warmer in the EU?

seriously... with all that hand slapping that has been occuring and getting worse.. not to mention that it's gone from hand slapping to "counting to 10" or something rediculious like that.......... what do we all expect? Perfect obedence?
that's like giving a dog a treat AFTER it's chewed off your hand...... "want some more?"
capital punishment..... be it hanging, shooting, or outright stoning.. don't care..... the whole "they are human... we can treat them and reintergrate them" bullshit isn't working.... they don't have the right to be a citizen... the moment they fucked up, they lost it....
Sorry royally irritated by this..
considering the number of recent news bits that have been flying up all over the place... 2 kids... 12 and 14..... killing 2 grand parents with a baseball bat....... a 8 year old drowned by 2 other 9 year olds......etc.etc..
what'd i say.... pull up that thread that i made back what... 2 years ago now? about the shit hitting the fan..... it's almost here...

I remember when I first heard that "life" in the UK system means like 15 years or so. This is just insane.

Got it one one mate, lack of respect is the key issue, that and the fact that there is no personal responsibility. These guys will all get off lightly because they will plead diminished responsibility, that or blame their parents, or the system, or the fact that their cat died when they were three years old and they never recovered. In their own heads they genuinely aren't to blame...

The thing that most disturbes me is the way that many people do whatever they want, and not feel shame for anything they do, regardless of how dangerous/harmful/stupid/disrespectful it is. And if they do feel some guilt, they can just as easily blame someone else, as Judas said. This sort of behavior seems to be rewarded and revered in some circles. Worst yet, with communications/media being as prevalent as it is now, it often leads to a sick sort of fame (like in the case in point).

Ugh, this world would be so much better if people just minded their own damn business, to be honest.. In my opinion the world is going to hell right now because everybody cares about what the person next to them is doing.. and then they get involved, and it just leads to trouble
But then again, what do I know? I'm just a kid

So this is only my second post on the forum, and Im jumping into a fairly hot subject here......
Im 36, I have 2 daughters aged 5 and 8. We live in the country in a fairly remote farm house and I am absolutely cr***ing myself looking to the future.
If society is like this now, whats it gonna be like in 10 (or even 5) years when my girls are old enough to be out by themselves?
Maybe its because we live away from the village, but there is no way on this earth I would let my 8yr old out on the street by herself. I know she will get the "world view" when shes at school every day, but we try our best to keep them sheltered from all the rubbish that kids are going through at far too young an age.
When I was a kid, I used to hide behind the sofa when Doctor Who was on the telly and The Incredible Hulk gave me nightmares. I didnt watch my first horror film until I was about 15, I think it was Hammer House of Horrors?
These days, and I may be deviating from the topic a little here, kids are subjected to all sorts of violence and horror from a very early age, and call me rediculous, but Im absoulutely convinced that kids are influenced by what they see on the telly and play in games. You cant blame the kids, its like someone already said, its the parents that are the issue but we have to remember that in a lot of cases we are dealing with parents who have only just learned to walk up-right and really dont deserve to have kids at all.
As far as the incident that Zardon started the thread with, its truely shocking. That poor woman will be scarred for life, as will her children. If they catch the idiots who committed this horrible crime, they really should consider hanging........by the balls.......until they fall off.

Welcome aboard Wilier. Hope you hang around you certainly seem to have your head screwed on.
I am not sure I agree with you about the games thing, sure some games are graphically violent but it hasnt give me the urge to go out and harm people in the real world...... and ive played my fair share of them however as im older and more mature I guess this might be a part of it. When I was a kid my parents monitored most of the things I did and you know, while i hated it at the time I respect them now for all the effort they put into raising me.
Its up to the parents to stop their kids from playing overly violent games or watching violent movies. I mean ive seen hostel, and I wish I didn't and im 37 years old, that movie made me feel ill. If I saw that when I was 12 years old I think i would have had to have therapy.
the standards of parenting has gone right out the window. I firmly believe that this as well as dysfunctional family life is the root of a great many of these problems.

i have to agree there, i had some "behavioural problems" when i was a kid, but my parents raised me well, taught me right from wrong a hell of a lot better than any teacher at school could ever hope to - and i think i've turned out fine
it's the families where parents are an extremely poor role model that problems like this arise
