??? Mobility HD2600 HDMI>DVI-D Resolutions

Hello everyone!

I own a Toshiba A200 TH7 with HDMI output on it. Recently, I bought a NEC MultiSync2090UXi with DVI-I & DVI-D input. First, I connected it with a VGA>DVI-I, but wasn't satisfied with interference glitches from poor VGA cable. Then I bought HDMI>DVI-D (single-link) cable, and glitches are gone.

BUT, the maximum HDMI resolution I can get with the Mobility HD2600 is 1280x1024 while the native resolution of the NEC monitor is 1600x1200.

I have all the latest bios updates and drivers from Toshiba.

Anyone knows a solution or explanation ? Thanks!

Hello!

It's me again! I'm on the phone with Toshiba right now... It's just like I'm not gonna have any useful info. Oh! The tech just told me it is a limitation from the source (which here is the laptop graphic card)... so I just cannot set it to resolutions above 1280x1024 via HDMI. Eh.

Now, what am I gonna do ? I'll give a try to Mobility Modder right now, and if it doesn't work , i'll try OmegaDriver for Windows Vista 32 as soon as it will be available.

I'll give you feedback.

If anybody have more info on this problem, feel free to help or comment! : )

I'm pretty sure the information you have been given by Toshiba is incorrect. I have a 2600 and it can output via HDMI to 1920x1080. Unless Tosh have put some limitation on the product themselves... but that would seem odd.

Doesn't help you with your problem though...

Depending on the way toshiba has intergrated the chipset... they may have dropped a few things to keep costs lower..

The only thing i can think of is they only designed it to meet 720p capabilities.. and not 1080p (1280x720 or 1280x1024 maximum and NOT 1920x1080 or 1920x1200)

It's not specifically a limitation of the chip.. it's a limitation that toshiba would have enforced as via DVI-D on a 2600.... 2560x1600 is the maximum resolutions.. actually most if not all current day ATI graphics chips support it... so long as the manufacturer of the card follows the reference design and specs accordingly.

Thanks for the replies,

Finally, The more I investigate, the more I am persuaded that each screen determine its own resolution, independently of the others. There seems to be nothing about such Toshiba HDMI limitations on the Internet, and I really searched a lot. Perhaps is this rather a problem with the monitor EDID? I will now look I that way...

The official drivers from Toshiba limits your display resolutions to:
800x600
1024x768
1280x800

I do not know if Toshiba really removed support for other resolution. Using Mobility Modder unlocks higher resolution.

I have the same laptop as well (Toshiba A200-TH7).

Oh, did you try your laptop on a high resolution display monitor or a HD tv (1080p) ?

Anyway, I'll wait for Catalyst 8.3, I'm sure there is something for my HD2600...

I sent back my A200-TH7 for check-up. I do not have a huge HDTV to test higher resolutions...

The only one I used was 1280x720 as that's the resolution of my HDTV. And oh, I am using Windows XP, not Vista...
