Compaq Presario A900 Drivers... Help Me
Downgraded to XP, now I can't find any drivers, please help, I'm so pissed...LOL I got model number A916NR the other day and didn't think downgrading was gonna be a problem, guess I was wrong. Had to buy a $25 dollar USB floppy drive on top of everything else for SATA. Please shoot me some help out there, appreciate it.

I got everything workin' with the above drivers... 'cept for the wireless and an unknown device... which I believe is the 5 in 1 reader, which I don't use anyways, but the wireless is PISSING me off, mine is an Atheros, WTF, it doesn't make sense, how you gonna have issues/problems downgrading? I guess up is down and down is right, and left is diagonal in their little world, FUCK compaq and FUCK hp. If anyone finds a working driver, post/pm. Thx.

OMG OMG OMG I finnally got it!!!
Wireless driver FTW
http://www.gp2xtorrents.com/postimag....0.56-whql.zip
Unzip and right click the Ethernet controller in device manger and say update driver. point it to your unzipped folder and BAMM wireless.
After 2 days of downgrading everything works finally!

Unable to install audio
I have followed all the steps here and still unable to get the audio to work.
I installed the UAA first, rebooted and then the Audio.
It appears to be installed in Device manager, but going to Sound in the Control panel it is all greyed out and no sound.
I have all other drivers working.

I have everything working...HP Chat has no idea how to resolve the ethernet controller, thanks to the post above I got that one fixed.
To fix the audio or the modem...install the driver... It will always FAIL...just reboot > go to the device mgr > r.click the yellow modem or audio item > click update driver > click not this time > click install from a list or specific item > click don't search, i will choose the driver to install > select modem or audio from list > have disk > browse to where ever you installed the driver, eg, c:\swsetup\sp34777 and select the ".inf" file and click open > continue with the onscreen instructions > when done the yellow item should be gone. Note you should only have to do this for the modem and the audio. Also note, you have to have the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) " ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe" installed before the audio and the modem drivers. Be sure to reboot after installing each driver. Hope this helps.

WLAN drivers
I have drivers if you want me to zip them up and send them to you. Atheros 5006X.
I did get the sound to work.
I installed the UAA Audio, rebooted, went to Windows Update, and it then detected the hardware and installed properly.
I have all the devices working on the Compaq A916NR.

FYI, my wirerless adapter is Atheros AR5006X. The Broadcom Wirerless driver is the DRIVER (not the adapter) that makes it work. As I recall HP told me that all the a916nr notebooks have the same wirerless adapter DRIVER. If you have a AR5007 try the Broadcom Wirerless Driver, if it doesn't work then go to device manager and click "roll back driver". Hopefully this helps.

Compaq presario a910em
hi, i have the same driver problems, i bought my laptop with windows vista home edition on, i hated it so i downgraded to xp proffessional but couldnt get the sound card, wireless and built in webcam drivers for it, so i re-installed vista but the ultimate edition, all my drivers are working now but my webcam worked fine the first time vista started up but after a restart it stopped working , the drivers look fine in device manager but when i try to video call or use the "youcam" software it tells me that the cam (webcam-101) cannot start, probably due to already being in use but every other program is closed and the blue power light is not on like it would be if it was in use , i tried and external webcam and that works fine, can anyone help me please. thankyou, maybe if you can help or even get the xp drivers, you could email me on dean7862@hotmail.com i would apreciate that a lot.... thanks again. Dean

Thanks a lot, jward! Followed your order and links and everything seems to be working. I don't have a wireless network set up at home, so I don't know if the wireless is working or not, but everything else seems okay.
Also, anyone find a driver for the unknown device yet, or figure out what it is? I think that's the only thing missing from mine. Other than that, I'm very satisfied
EDIT: I think the unknown device might be the headphone/microphone jack. Right now, when I plug headphones into the front jack, the sound comes through both the headphones AND the laptop speaker, and the microphone doesn't work at all. Does anyone know where I can find a driver for these?

in the begining sorry for my english :/
I have the same (like mc_tammer) problem with headphones and microphone in my presario a928 working on winxp. Unknow device was the quick launch driver. In device manager everything seems to be ok, but the mic on the right from camera is dead. I tried to plug another to the front input, but it doesn't work. If anyone can solve this problem, plaease email me:
