EEK! 1280x800 Resolution not selectable!

Hi!

I'm currently using the DH Mobility Modder v.0.8.1.0 with the original ATi Catalyst 7.8 (13.08.) (display driver only!) Display Driver works fine at 1024x768 but I can't select the standard resolution 1280x800 for my Notebook. There's only 1280x768 or some exotic ones like 1280x900 ...

What should I do to get the driver working in 1280x800?

Thank you!

Best regards

edit: Using the Mobility Radeon 9600 128MB

Hi,

Exactly the same problem on my Lenovo Notebook with ATI Mobility X1400 128 MB Ram.
I have also tried the original Mobility drivers same problem here.

Can you also tell what refresh rate your screen has on the resolution? 60HZ?

Hi Spike

I'm having similiar resolution issues!!

I have x1600 and have successfully modified the latest 7.8 catalysts to run on my laptop with the DH tool! It's great thanks a lot!

One problem though is that the resolution I use is 1280 x 720 @ 60hz (720p) and this is not selectable anymore. My previous drivers were the Omega 7.4 and this resolution is available when I install these drivers.

There isn't even an option to select this HD resolution in the Force section of CCC.

I've tried several 'solutions' - modifying the ini files and the registry but nothing has worked. I even tried powersrtip to make a custom ini but this hasn't worked either.

I'd like to use the new 7.8 drivers but without 720p being selectable I guess I have to go back to the old Omega drivers.

Is there any solution to this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

@Spike: 60Hz

I now installed the latest omegadriver, 1280x800 is selectable now. Unfortunately it's not the original ATI driver, but I think I won't recognize the difference during gameplay (CS:S)

best regards

Hi F1NAL - that driver is based on the Cat 7.4.

The latest drivers are 7.8 and include many optimisations for recent games including STALKER (if you've got it!).

That's why I'd like to be able to use these drivers (7.8) but the resolutions as mentioned above aren't available - however loads of other resolutions are, which I find very strange.

Does anyone know why these resolutions aren't available or how to enable these resolutions? I thought with 720p being a standard HD res this would at least be available?

If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be most obliged

Cheers

Can no one answer this question about resolutions? Surely someone must understand why these resolutions aren't available - or is it a complete mystery????

Hi Spike

Just wondered if I mod the latest 7.10 drivers will I get 1280x720 resolution in XP - as you mentioned above you would add this resolution and others in the inf file?

I can't be bothered to run DriverCleaner and mod the drivers and then reinstall them to find that 720p is not available, then having to run DriverCleaner again and revert my old Omegas!! <--- Lazy b'tard!

Thanks for your wicked program dude and no worries if the resolutions in XP aren't available yet! I'm sure you've got more important things to do!

I just wanted to note the advice Joshuar gave in an earlier thread:

http://www.driverheaven.net/1074786-post14.html

You need to modify the
\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF\CX_XXXXX.i nf file,
after running the Mobility Modder, but before running the setup again to install Catalyst drivers

You will need to change:
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700" = ati2mtag_M10B, PCI\VEN_

to:
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700" = ati2mtag_M11B, PCI\VEN_

Basically changing the ati2mtag device id from M10 to M11

I notice I have an entry for the "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700", twice in the CL_53254.inf file that came with 7.10. I only changed the value in the first entry, and on installing have access to the 1280x800 resolution.

(ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 on an emachines M6809 Laptop).

I am having a similar issue with my Radeon 2600 HD XT Mobile chip. I installed the catalyst drivers with mobility modder (device manager says the card has driver 8.421 and catalyst version is 7-10 for 32Bit Vista) It will not allow me to select the native resolution of my display 1920x1200.

Can you tell me which line of the ini I have to change to make that work?

Thanks,
Jeff

I don't remember how to work with an ATI card, but with an NVidia card there is an option at its control panel to set a custom resolution. Have you tried to see if there is something like that in the CCC?
