Cant Get Full Resolution DVI Monitor (1680x1050)- ATI HD 2600
HI,
I just installed the modded ATI 7.11 drivers on my ASUS F3SA laptop with an ATI HD 2600 512mb video card, running vista premium.
Problem is it wont let me use my full 1680x1050 resolution on my external Samsung 215TW LCD hooked up through the DVI.
Can anyone help with the proper modifications I need to make to get this working or should I wait for another version of the drivers?
Thanks!

there should be a selection somewhere in the different control panels that say something like "display resolutions that this monitor cannot use" basically click it.
this is done for laptops with particular monitors so people dont go putting on a resolution too high for the laptop's monitor.

Thanks for the reply Kris,
I looked in the ATI Command Control Center, and didn't see that res. listed, or that command and I looked in the display setting as well but no luck...The laptop monitor works at full res, I just cant get the external LCD that I use for photo editing to work at full res.
Cheers,
Kyle

try playing with settings, look around in advanced settings. i dont remember how CCC in the 7.11 drivers look as i can't really use them anymore. thats all i can say
there may be a place where you can input a custom res, what is the max resolution?

kris23, you can see what Kyle is saying in my screen shots.
Kyle have you found anything else new? Maybe a driver fix?

Hi Cebolao,
From what I've read, it has something to do with one of the lines in the INF file used by the modded driver...everything installs well, but there is a line or two that have to be changed to tell the driver that 1680x1050 is a valid resolution...At least that's what has worked for some people with older versions of the driverheaven mod in the past....
Anyone know what lines to edit, or if there is another way of getting this up and running at 1680x1050?

Ya i was thinking about that. But I have no experience playing arround with the video properties. Last time i tried ATI tools, just because i wanted to see my laptops temperature, it totally messed up my system, and the computer wouldnt shut down or restart!

use power strip to build a custom driver with the specified resolution.
it works fine, as long as you dont game on it

No go with my Mobility HD 2600 either...
You know, I am also having a similar problem with my Mobility HD 2600. I can use the VGA out to my Samsung 32" LCD TV, but cannot get 1360x768 resolution. I can get 1024x768, but widescreen gives me all sorts of problems - specifically, my TV says there is no signal.
I have an ASUS F3Ka with a Mobility HD 2600 512 GDDR2 video card. I dumped Vista within the first 3 hours of having this laptop because of major incompatibility issues and about 4 BSOD's in that amount of time. I've got XP Pro up and running and all driver issues resolved in Device Manager (that I can tell). I've tried Omega drivers 3.8.421 and currently 4.8.442. I have tried tweaks in ATI Tray Tools, as well as Multires. No joy. The thing that bugs me is that the Toshiba I bought for my wife in June has a Mobility 200M integrated card and ports to my TV in 1360x768 with no issues under XP Pro (sold w/ Vista, too) with Omega 3.8.421 drivers. Is this card just no fully supported or something? I really don't want to install Vista again just to troubleshoot, especially since I doubt it will have any affect.

I too have these types of problems with a Toshiba Satellite A200 running the Mobility HD 2600. Trying to run my external Benq 22" Widescreen at 1680x1050 and isnt working. Laptop has an absolute fit and almost crashes itself to death. Running Vista Ultimate. Runs a 19" LG monitor no problems. Why on earth would they not make this product to run widescreen monitors. Is this 2008 or 1998?
Would be great if someone can find a solution to this. I have not as yet tried any omega drivers.
I have downloaded and tried Multires but it doesn't run properly on Vista. It seems as though it would work on XP though.
Cheers
