7300GT and the latest Nvid Omega drivers for XP

Hi all! I really hate to make my first post in a community be a help question, but it's driving me crazy. I'd love some help if anyone would like to offer it. =)

Okay, so i'm trying to install the most recent Omega nVidia drivers for XP and i'm not having much luck at all. I'll completely remove my previous drivers (nVidia's official forceware straight from their site) via device manager, reboot my computer, run DriverCleanerPro, reboot again, install Omega, reboot again, and windows will load with one of two things happening(i've tried the same process a few times by now):

1. The first odd thing it will do is finish loading windows then just tear the screen in half with smooshies and artifacts and crap so I need to restart.

2. The second less bad but still intolerable is that it will load up just fine but the screen will pretty much pulse till restart - normal, flawless graphics for about 15 seconds followed by 5 seconds of black screen.

I was really excited to see that Omega had updated his drivers again, as i'd used them about a year prior, but I have no clue why all this stuff is messing up.

fake edit: I don't know if it'll help any, but the reason i'm updating all this is because I keep running into an "Application failed to initialize" message on Oblivion and a game I downloaded to try out earlier today. I've updated all my nforce chipset stuff that goes along with my mobo and didn't have a problem. All other games that i've tried to play (COD4, WoW, HL2/Portal, etc) work fine so no idea what's going on there either.

Oh right, system specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2gb RAM
Biostar TForce4 SLI (only have one card atm so SLI mode is disabled)
MSI GeForce 7300GT
XP Pro SP2
Everything but the Card is 2 ish years old with the card being about 6 months.

Thanks a bunch for any and all help that can be provided!

Welcome to DH!

Does the system boot into safe mode?

Also, did you boot into safe mode before running DriverCleaner?

Thanks!
System will boot into safe mode when I make it but it doesn't do it automatically and yup, ran DCP in safe mode every time that I attempted it.

It might be a problem with the Omega drivers specifically. I'd try a set of the official nvidia drivers and wait and see what Omega has to say on this.

Yeah, I was thinking that's what it was possibly. I've got 169.21 installed right now and there's no problems at all. Ah well, eh? =)

I'd just like to bump this to say that I did a clean XP install and the Omega drivers did the exact same thing on a clean install. I guess i'll just go with the default nvidia drivers for now since no one seems to have any idea what's happening. Thanks anyway!
