ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 Updated Driver for Toshiba

Hi,

I am hoping someone out there may possibly be able to help me. If so, I will be forever grateful!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 graphics card that I got in June 2006. I am trying to play a game (Viva Pinata for Windows) but get an error message that the driver needs to be updated:

The graphics driver on this computer is out of date. You should update the graphics driver on this computer before running Viva Pinata. You may experience problems running Viva Pinata if you choose to continue without updating.
Please click the link below to obtain an updated driver for the "Mobility Radeon X1300" from the manufacturer's website.

Of course ATI's website says you can't get Toshiba notebook drivers from them, but you have to go to Toshiba directly. I went and downloaded the latest version of the driver (version 8.204 according to their website) from Toshiba, but it is from 2005...so very old. I called Toshiba, and they said this is the latest version they have. According to my system, this is what I am running:

First off, what is the difference between Driver Packing Version 8.204 and 2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6587. Apparently, if you look at the error message I got from Viva Pinata, then I need to update the 2D Driver. Unfortunately, I have no clue what that is. I don't know if it is possible to download a more updated complete driver than what I have or do I have to get a 2D Driver? (sorry, I am not computer smart in this area)

I have been struggling with this for months since I got the game and can't play it because the ground turns completely blue, like water. I would appreciate any and all help you can give.

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

That driver package is specially modified by toshiba to work on your laptop and it's based of CAT 5.xx and since ATi cant make drivers for toshiba laptops you can't use their drivers as they are.
But there is the DH Mobility Moder.Net that basically modifies the .inf files of desktop version of Catalyst drivers to work on mobile chips. You can get it here : http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/

Remember to read the instructions and have all the needed components installed from Microsoft.

Thank you for the help. However, I get an error message when I go to Driver Heaven Downloads page, click download on the driver, and then Run. It will act like it is downloading it, but finally it gives a message saying the file is from an unknown publisher and it won't go any further. Your only option is to click Ok, and that just shuts it all down. ???

I see that you are using IE. Don't open it save it to desktop or some other folder. The modtool is in Zip file so you need some freeware program like 7-Zip to unpack it. What driver you are trying to download from there? Catalyst 8.1? Get the driver here : AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities and save it to desktop. Then do what is said in part 4. in the guide.
