Does XP Pro/Home Handle DOS Files Differently

A guy sent me this program for building custom fly fishing rods (handle weaves) but it is a very old program that runs in DOS. I can run the program fine on my PC w/ XP Pro, but I sent it to another lady (xp home) who gets an error while trying to run it. Also the guy who sent it to me could not get it to run on XP either and I am pretty sure he has home as well. My question is, is there a different between home and XP when it comes to dos, or do you think i just have something configured differently?

Thanks

Kevin

System Specs

well.. xp has no real dos, & most progs shouldnt work in the first place

i guess the options are, try the compatability mode thing built into xp, dosbox, or a vm

do they get a particular error? there's no other app to use?

should i try it? (xphome)

Well I got it to work on her machine w/ dosbox.....I tried having them do compatibility mode that didnt work.....I am not sure of the exact error, but it was something like "this application is unsuitable to run in this environment." I will have to go over to her house instead of trying to trouble shoot over the phone.
