Problem with overclocked CPU

I've been running my Q6600 @ 3.2ghz fine since I bought it, but now all of a sudden it runs at default in windows. In the bios it still shows it as 3.2, but windows 2.4. i've not even been in to the bios lately, so i've no idea why this is happening. any ideas?

Windows is reporting the wrong clock for me also. What does cpu-z read?

do you save your BIOS settings properly? usually if a computer fails to boot properly once, the BIOS reverts to default and tries it again.

taking the battery out for 10 minutes did the trick and my overclocked cpu works again. woohoo. i lost over 2000 points in 3DMark06 with the cpu at default. even the GPU lost quite a few points, i guess due to bottlenecking. overclocking is definitely worth it!
