Can modded drivers damage my hardware?

I have a FSC laptop with a Mobility X1800. I had to send it in for warranty last year because of a hardware fault that had developed in the card's memory - and I was using drivers that had been run through Mobility Modder as the fault developed and worsened over time.

Could the modification of the drivers be behind the fault? I'm not brewing up a complaint - after all, it was a risk I knew I was taking - but I'm now thinking again of installing modded drivers (as Fujitsu's official ones are so hopelessly out of date) and want to know if it's something I should be doing again, especially now I'm out of warranty.

Modded drivers won't damage your hardware. If you are overclocking your card, that could damage it, but the modded drivers won't do that. Odd's are, you just had a bum card.
