3870 and flash player in full screen doesn't work
Hey all. I have been testing watching programs on hulu.coms beta.
It has been working great until recently. I replaced my X1950 pros in Crossfire with 2 Visiontek 3870's in CrossfireX. Videos play fine until you hit the full screen button. I then get a split screen in 2 triangles. 1 white and 1 black split corner to corner. I had removed all the drivers and did the driver cleaner removal, then tried 7.10. 7.11, and 7.12 cats. All did the same thing. Figured it was some setting or file in Vista. Removed Java and Flash as these are what they say they use. Then reinstalled em. Same thing. Well today i did a clean disk install of Vista and am getting the exact same thing so it really points to a driver problem (at least to me).
Anybody else seen this happen or have any other ideas?

Unfortuneately i can't check out anything on the hulu.com site...
but going to SEVERAL sites.. being youtube/dailymotion/toduo/etc. that use flash baised playback.. and using fullscreen
appears to be working flawlessly for me with the 7.12's installed..

Well I just tried a few youtubes and got the same thing.
guess it's time to try one video card at a time and see what happens. I've already tried the Crossfire on and off thing with no effect.
Sigh..... I just found a bad stick of Crucial 1066 RAM that was very slowly causing corruption to my hard drive. I may have to try to reinstall again just to make sure. That's what caused this reinstall, but the stick was in during the install so I guess to be safe I'll have to do it again.

WoW I just found this thread while looking for the one I started but I'm going to reply any way. I'm running a Mobility HD 2600 XT with the latest vista drivers and I'm getting the same exact thing on youtube. I had no reason why this happened and just figured it was a problem with flash.
Whenever I try to fullscreen a youtube video I get the split white and gray triangles. However, If I use a site like veoh.com it works just fine. I really have no clue how this happened, but I figured I'd let you know you're not alone.

Well I have done several things.
I used my existing setup and removed to 1 3870. Same thing.
Removed 3870 and replaced with X1950Pro - works fine.
Removed 1950 and reimstalled 3870 - bug back.
Did fresh install of Vista to a spare SATA drive. Used 7.12 cats. Fresh flash and java. Same bug. Put in the 1950 - works fine. Back to 3870 - bug back.
That means it could be a flash issue between running it in DX9 or DX10 mode or it could be a bios issue between the Video Cards. I'm kinda leaning toward the Flash DX9 or DX10 side, but not much data. Any way to force a mode in Flash to maybe go back to DX9 style usage?
I guess I could try it under XP where the 3870 has to stay in DX9.
Any other ideas?

your best bet is submit a ticket to ATI about the issue... as i've a few cards here that i've tried it on with no issues at all..
crossfire/vista/ with 7.11/7.12's produce no such issues ..
not sure what to tell you other then to try and contact ati.

Well I found out something and it now works in full screen.
I went into flash settings and DISABLED hardware acceleration. Works flawlessly now.
Now if I can figure out why this is the case I'll be ahead of the game.
Judas is your acceleration off or on?
Right click on the video while playing to get to the settings BTW.

You rock,
I have HD 3850 Crossfire on my BX2 rig and I was getting the same thing on a fresh install of Vista HP x64 using the cat 7.12 driver. It's all good now.

I don't have a acceleration option... it just isn't there..
Are you guys using the latest Adobe Flash Player? or using something else? Cause i haven't had hardware acceleration available in flash player (well it's there, but the newer version is saposed to automatically adjust as needed)...

Now that you mention it, that's it. I didn't have the problem until I started using the latest "more secure" version of the flash player. The previous version didn't give me the error.
When you right click on the video window a drop down menu should appear, from that select settings. Then you should see the option to untick acceleration. This should be the final result.
If you aren't using the latest flash player, get it. The old one has an arse load of security flaws.

I'm using the latest straight off of the Adobe site. Used the web install and the stand alone install too.
Version 9.0.115.0 is the version
Maybe a difference in 32 bit vs 64 bit?

Odd,
Well unfortunately I am not a technical masta. Perhaps someone will happen along who is.
I do know sometimes the old versions are hard to get to uninstall properly. Read this:
Update your Flash player now--and do it right | Defensive Computing - CNET Blogs
Judas, that interface you capped looks like the old one to me. Mine looks like the below shot first, then like the other shot I already posted after selecting settings.

Adobe still has some problems installing flash properly on 64bit Windows. Copy/replace the Macromed folder in SysWOW64 to System32 after the installation updates the core, but I still see the old context menu so there's probably something missing with the Internet Explorer integration. At least the hardware acceleration option will appear this way.

Thing is, i've also done good measure on the test by having a fresh copy of vista installed and then proceeding to install flash..
no change....
the new adobe player is working probably on all the sites.... and it current according to the information about it.
