E6750 CPU score in 3DMark06 [56K warning!]

Hi!

Just got installed my upgrade and ran 3dMark06 and CPU score was 794. Is this real or is there something wrong with my settings in here.
Mobo is Abit's IP35 and all is running in stock.

Well speedstep should turn off when the processor is under load.... depending on the rest of the hardwares specs 700pts might be right for 3d06.

so, have you tried turning off the CPU functions in BIOS to see if it will work better with your system?

FWIW, my e6700 scores 2800+ in 3DMark 06.

Since this is a new installation/upgrade, make sure you get the latest BIOS and chipset/motherboard drivers.

some settings like AA and AF and textures and quality should be set to the lowest setting as the differences in performance and the points will be higher on lower settings.

well that should not matter since we are talking CPU score in here... I've seen that E4400 gets over 2000 CPU points and I just get almost 800 points...

not sure but i think they have some kind of engine by Ageia to stress the CPU and if thats adjustable, it most likely will make the score change.

Don't think so. Just saw test done yesterday with E6600 @ stock and it got 2000 CPU points so me thinks that there is something wrong since it got way better FPS in the CPU test than I did and the build and stuff were same.

all are ok. And the culprit is...... CPU multiplier... it goes to six when under load... just ran Prime95 benchmark with CPU-Z open ...

your guess is as good as mine... I guess that it's to due CPU temp, it's around 80 Celsius on stock cooler from Intel...

could be some kind of safeguard from overheating so the chip doesnt get damaged.....

its rare for a chip to be defective like this though.....

try getting a new cooler or at least new compound....

Sorry, teme....

Had to leave for work and just got back home.

Here's a link to the best score I've posted so far. This was using my x1950 Pro and it's kind of old. But, all my posted/published scores will show about the same score for the CPU.

Futuremark - ORB - Project Comparison

As for the issue you're having: I do think it's due to a bad thermal connection between the CPU and heatsink. Right now, I can push this CPU to 3.35 GHz and the temp never goes above 58C. [High Temp corrected from previously posted 50C.]

Here's my latest test score done under Vista....

Futuremark - ORB - Project Comparison

EDIT: I'm going to post this as a "FWIW" since I just dealt with this last week on a PC belonging to a brother-in-law. He had just bought a new mobo, CPU, RAM, and video card and had spent some time putting it all together last Wednesday evening.

Well, several hours later he still wasn't able to get a POST or any image on the monitor. Using another system, he emailed me to see if I could drop by before work last Thursday to see if I could figure out the problem.

So, I dropped by there and it took less than fifteen minutes for me to figure out what had happened.

After checking all the cables and basic stuff, I disconnected the hold down clamp on the CPU fan and pulled it up off the motherboard. Along with the fan assembly came the processor, too! He had failed to properly lockdown the processor. (AM2, btw.) The whole thing came out and I removed the CPU from the heatsink and properly installed and locked it down.

After getting everything else connected and in place again, the system booted with no problem and he was able then to get things together when he got home from work.

Sooo......I mention this only for the sake that...MAYBE....just MAYBE....your CPU isn't completely and properly locked down. I've never had one to work partially, though. It either works or it doesn't. BUT, I do have to wonder if you've got just enough connection to get some performance but not completely. At any rate, I'd pull it off and then make positively sure the CPU is completely and properly locked down just for my own assurance if nothing else.

Good luck!
