i`m havind an AMD Athlon 64 3200+,ATI Xpress 200 Integrated Graphics,MSI-7184 mobo.I tried
changing the PSU to670 Watts, disabling the shared graphics in BIOS,installing
the device in safe mode,updating it`s drivers,installing KB 936710,KB
938194,KB 938979 and KB 940105. When i plugg in the card to my PCIe slot and
restart the system,it takes about 5 minutes to log on.Every thing has slowed
down, even the mouse and the cursor. The PC now always utilises 100% CPU all
the time and every thing is damn slow. When the card is removed, evrything is
perfect. What`s happening here?is there any conflicts?
DAY 2
i tried it today again..it installed
without any problems.it then asked me to restart..so then i restarted and i`m
having the same issue(slow PC and 100% CPU).No other problems encountered. The card`s BIOS is 123-SG1H06-10.I have the system diagnostics report by vista in html format, but i don`t know how to attach it here..
Thank you

you DON'T want to install the windows supplied driver

Welcome to DriverHeaven!
As Judas said, you want to install the ATI drivers....not the ones provided by Windows.
I have exactly the same card: HD2600XT 512 MB DDR3 PCIe. I'm also using Vista. Haven't had even the first bit of trouble getting it installed.
I'm assuming your card is also PCIe but it would help if we got the full details of your system.

i have read in this forum( Radeon X700 Hardware Video Acceleration Disabled in Vista 32bit) that "The only way to Disable Hardware Acceleration is through Disabling the AERO interface in Vista."I currently have no Aero interface as i`m using the old Windows Classic Theme for performance gain.is this the cause??

Nope, since you don't use aero you should be able to adjust the HW acceleration. What driver you have now installed? If you have the driver from Microsoft uninstall it and after that instal CAT 7.11

The current version is 8.432.0.0(old).
Similar to the other forum post, even for me in the Troubleshoot section of the Display section the change settings button is disabled and it says " Your current display drivers does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings. Why is this?

In ATI`s website there is drivers for both Vista 32 and Vista 32 Motherboard/IGP drivers.Which one should i install,as I`m having a Radeon Xpress 200 chipset and the new graphics card..are these drivers different? Please help...does this problem arise if there is not enough Amps in the 12V rail of my PSU.i`m having 19A currently with a total Wattage of 300.I know this card needs a PSU of about 450Watts,but i tried with a new PSU of 670 Watts with 14A on the 12V rails, still same issues..

The issue could well be related to the inadequate PSU. Others have posted here that problems like this were resolved once the PSU was replaced with one of better wattage and a +12V rail amp of 28 or more.
As for the Radeon Xpress 200 Chipset: That's a motherboard chipset and is unrelated to the graphics card. So, you need the non-mobility graphics drivers.

it`s said that this card needs about 450Watts,but i know users with 300 WATTS and have not encountered any issues...how is this possible?

It's possible if the 300W PSU has a very high +12V Amp rating AND there are not very many other devices installed in the PC. The more devices installed that use the +12V trunk of the PSU will lower the overall performance.
On the other hand, a 450W PSU with very low +12V Amps is not as adequate as a high-end 300W PSU.
The main concern is to have a good/high quality PSU with a high +12V AMPs.

IMO this doesn't make sense as the 2600xt doesn't require a pci-ex connector on the board.. and uses the PCI-EX slots own power supply...
I would expect nearly instant issues as soon as the machine starts with a bad power supply...
But none the less it COULD be the source of the issue...
However if i was to wager a guess, the issues your being presented with sounds like a BAD ati card...
The cards major power draw doesn't hit until you fire up games with intensive 3D graphics..
In the situations where the PSU has been the issue, usually you can ALWAYS at least get the drivers to install the system to start, even configure the card, but the problem doesn't occur till you start the games or 3D apps.
Hell i had a radeon card where anything 2D would work perfectly, but anything 3D emediately would screw the system... (something royally wrong with the GPU).... and that wasn't a PSU issue.
No, you shouldn't be having these kinda of problems with even getting drivers to install and detect the card right. The chance of the PSU being the issue is exceptionally slim... possibly yes, but damn slim...
I'd suggest getting an exchange done on the card ASAP... if you cannot test it in another machine.

Is Hradware Acceleration different from the DirectDraw Acceleration,Direct3D Acceleration,AGP Texture Acceleration found in dxdiag, because these are all enabled. These are from dxdiag without the card inserted,i wouldn`t dare to do this when it`s inserted,it`s just that it may take about 30 minutes to get it finished.

First of all, the link to the PSU is broken. I get a 404 error when trying to access it.
Secondly, from the DXDIAG reports, it appears there's a problem with the SOUND on this system. This apparently is a RealTek onboard audio (which is normally very solid!) But, the report is stating that the drivers are not signed and then the second report states that there was a crash of the audio.
So, to test this out, do this: Go into BIOS and Disable the Onboard Audio in the Integrated Devices. You won't have any audio during this test. (You haven't added another audio card have you?) With the onboard audio disabled, run the tests again and report back.
