Winamp for music. I've been using it for ages, it's simple, practical, does well what I want it to and it has a couple of extra features I need every now and then.
For videos in DivX and similar formats, I use BS Player, an old version that was still completely free - the same as above, simple and does the job.
I only use WMP 11 for DVD video, and that's because none of my old software DVD players works too well in Windows Vista. Still, it works ok too.

I use WMP for my modest media needs which aren't online. If I have a choice online, I prefer Quicktime, because it buffers the entire video and has a progress bar (though most Flash based sites also offer this). WMP normally doesn't, and often transitions to a slideshow when bandwidth drops, which I simply hate (granted, this happens less these days than it used to, but it still does).

I'm surprised Media Player Classic isn't up there, I've been using it for years.

You mean playlists? MPC supports them too.

MPC playlists are buggy, always freezes up if I try to watch 3 vids in a row.

I have never had any problems with long playlists in MPC. What version do you have? Here is the latest build: Media Player Classic (patched build) - Page 10 - Doom9's Forum

I've watched one season of TNG at one go, 25 episodes and didn't have any issues.

Latest version that comes with the CCCP.

It's not worth my time to try and get it working.
WMP works fine, and it has the queue that videos can be dragged into at any position, which works well.

As far as I know it only happens when extended desktop is on and I'm watching the vids on my tv, it's been like that for a couple of years.

iTunes here but, then again, I'm on OS X so it's practical. I'm actually surprised to see WinAmp still being used. When I was on a PC 100% of the time I used WinAmp back in the 90's but when it fell behind technologically I switched to Windows Media. Then I moved to Mac.

I use iTunes. Don't really care for it all that much, but it keeps my huge library in order with next to no work, and its easy enough to use. Certainly isn't stable though.

I use WMP11 most of the time, when it doesn't work (like when the network sharing crashed it all the time in vista) i use winamp.
