ya know, I knew a fella back in Colorado Springs they used to call Artemis Mouse and he wrote briliantly for a bit, but he had epilepsy and his parents kicked out on the street where he couldnt get his medication and he spent a winter suffering in the cold till he disappeared before New Years, I always wondered what happened to him, my ex girlfriend and I clothed him, fed him and let him sleep in the printing place during the winter months, but he always refused money for his labors, he just had to write his story on an old computer in the storeroom...just thinking of him and wondered if he was getting on ya know...what is it about the holidays that reminds of our dreams, our regrets and our past...odd isnt it. I can still see images of him now and then, and wonder somewhere in the pouring snow, if he still wanders the streets and sleeping here and there... When I see kids ya know, young and full of life, I often hope their future will be bright and full of promise and all the doors will be open and their bellys full and warm beds await them when they go to sleep. Maybe just for an instant, I see the inner light children have, and just capture it, like an image in my mind. |
