Anyone else just despise iTunes?
I've used 6.1 on my parent's computer when I was younger and now I'm researching 7.5 just for shits and giggles. Unfortunately, all I ever got with ol' iShit were constant "Failure to connect to the iTunes store" messages when I was offline and proprietary mp3 formatting; once I ripped CD's or DVD's into iTunes, they wouldn't play in any other program, much less transfer to another computer.
The thing is, I have a lot of (illegally) downloaded music, some of which is that way because I couldn't find it in any other medium due to product availability. I use WinAmp to play these files without error or hiccups in transfer whatsoever, and keep them in a folder entitled "mp3's" on my desktop. I never have any issues with connection or slowdown and file sharing betwixt other PC's is impeccably simple.
Whatever happened to common sense when it comes to software and file management? iTunes just seems extremely and corporately over-complicated and conglomerated.
 DOWN WITH CORPORATE MUSIC CONSOLIDATION!!!!

me! me! memememe!
when I had my ipod I used a different program to put music on it- I forget what it was called but it was alot better than Itunes.
now I have an MEE mp3 player that lets me drag and drop my music and videos right onto it. plus it has an SD memory card slot, and I have alot of 2gb SD cards laying around so that was handy.$80 for a player with 2gb internal, $60 for 1gb internal, I have 2gb internal + a few 2gb SD cards

Dude i fucking HATE that scumware from Apple... In my opinion it's the most invasive, resource hogging, craply designed piece of SHIT EVER...
It's no better than a piece of spyware hunting through your system and coverting all your music files to some unheard format.
iTunes is the one reason i don't want an iPod, i know i can use alternatives but i might forget that when i put the iTunes CD in and i don't want to take that risk with my music

Well said. I've got some really rare albums I don't want to lose. My collection of downLOAD (Skinny Puppy side project) albums were the hardest thing to find EVER...all their EP's and LP's in one torrent. It took me months to find. If I were to install iTurd, they wouldn't be in glorious FLAC format any longer and WinAmp wouldn't play them.
Besides, MilkDrop is just so cool...

iTunes is just a pretty Windows Explorer for people too lazy to organize crap themselves. It's a terrible application, and the one time I tried it (a few months ago, and due to stupid Apple bundling it in with Quicktime Pro's upgrade) my music library just killed it...as in froze it up without a fix. So screw it!

I paid $43.99 for a GPX(def. Cheap-o) mp3 player with 4GB internal and an SD/XD memory slot...I filled it up with over 3,000 songs and called it good.

i installed this i crap.. i then (to my horror) saw it was 'doing somthing' (converting they call it) to stuff on my pc.
is there a way to fix the stuff it changed? even tho i don't know what it was even doing exactly?
I would also like then to delete the stupid thing from the PC. but unfortunatly i'm using vista (another thing i hate) and i just can not seem to find where the 'add remove programs' thingy has gone to? WHY DO THEY MESS WITH IT! everything was exactly where it was suppose to be in win2000! everything, even the simplest of controls seem LOST in VISTA!
utter garbadge!

There IS a way to convert those files back to an acceptable format (FLAC, .mp3). Check out dbPowerAmp - it's about $30, but the program is so versatile and reliable that you could convert an .rtf file into an .mp3 if you want. Or you could use Nero...but I hate it. Personal taste aside, you can save your files. Just do it before Apple owns everything.
Oh, Vista's Add/Remove Programs functionality is now listed under the Add Programs Icon in new view.

Well, not to bash the peeps who're paying my bills, but DON'T GET AN IPOD TOUCH!!!! If you drop it further than 33cm, it will shatter the front glass and the Apple Limited Warranty will not cover "accidental damage". It's a $250 USD replacement charge. Same goes for the iPhone.
If it's any consolation - iHate Apple.

make sure that case has mini shock absobers
touch screens sre a bitch to replace. you might as well buy a new item & get a brand new warranty.
i had sony remote commander(awsome remote back then) 2-3 years back(about$250, but i got it through my bro for for $100). i dropped it & cracked the friggin touch screen, everthing still worked except you couldnt use/see the areas were the crack was. they wanted $175 to replace it.
i now use a logitech harmony remote.
