Man what a great game. I backed off on the the setting earlier, now most is set to medium, except post processing, water, and shaders are all on high.
Graphics aside though, this game is fun. I am really suprised how much the suit adds to the game once you get the hang of it. The environments too, just really add something new to the game.

I tried the same settings and played through the demo quite comfortably. It was usually around 30fps...come to think of it that's about the same framerate I had playing Farcry on a 9700pro.
Has anyone played with the "max frames to render ahead/prerender limit/flip queue size" tweak? I tried setting it to 1 it didn't seem to make a huge difference I'll have to go back to default to check.

Actually, that's where I got my copy. But, that one I corrupted thinking that the download had stopped. (It took a VERY, VERY long time to copy over the file from the .tmp file and the PC wasn't showing constant HD activity. So, I thought it was finished doing its thing and it wasn't.)
The second place I got it from was IGN via 3DGamers.
AWESOME experience so far! But, limited playing time at the moment.

Crysis....wow...incredible...
WEll i played the demo early this morning and i didnt leave my house- i was messing aroudn with the settings and the gameplay it kicks ass literally amazing- 9/10 for me, 9.5/10 if it supports Crossfire and 10/10 depending on the story other the details alone do it for me...holy moly!
anyways my question: does Crysis Demo- or will the retail version- provide support for crossfire? right now i know it doesnt because i have CF enabled and the game is running OK...
AMD 4400 x2 @2.6GHZ + cooler master miniR120
2GB OCZ 4000 platinum XTC
1 ATI 1900 radeon (not overclocked)
1 MSI 1900 Radeon (not overclocked)
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI XTreme GAmer
i played this game via WINxp 64bit
teh game takes a little time to load - nothing crazy- but when it starts no worries...
but im worried about crossfire simply because it is why i spent the money for two cards..
i know that it will not run it with DX-10 and it will certainly not run better than upcoming radeons nor the HD series..so im not worried about that- im not even worried about AA and adaptive AA
BUT considering this bad boy is running at a decent 30fps with 1 card- all details on HIGH (very high not available) - im very impressed....and i will be further delighted if it supports crossfire in the full version!
the only small issure i have is the load times (disk is defragged already) seems to take a little time..but its not 10 min or nothing.
anyways hope this beast will run nicer- otherwise rock solid game!
game on! thanks in advance! i did a search on this matter but i havent found any answers- so i came to the experts!

i wasnt really impressed with the demo. if anything, the weapons accyracy just pissed me off. ref;ex site right on their damn face and the shot goes high...
i ran the game at 1024x768 with everything on medium except post processing, physics, and 2 other things... cant remember what they were. i was probably at 40 for an average, but the damn fps was all over the place. 20fps at one moment, 60 at the next. it seems like a tech demo that still needs alot of work.
thats what i like about ID's games, theyre really only a tech demo, but they run perfectly.
cant forget this little physics glitch i ran across.

lol, on my rig DX10 mode sucks, frames really low, from 15fps low to 20fps avg to 29fps max lol
now dx9 mode is a totaly other kettle of fish, it runs perfectly
all on high settihngs ingame 34fps min 43fps avg 68fps max
i get the funny feeling that this game isnt useing quad to its full advantage and i dont think its useing sli either when it comes to it...
for instance in dx10 mode, i get exactly the same frames when useing 1 card that i get when enableing 2 cards.

Someone else mentioned that the demo is utilizing Sli/Xfire systems, so that's not surprising what you say.
Did you get the prompt to download the Vista Update for the game? That's supposed to fix the problem with at least dual core processors.
Also, is anyone else trying to play with their gamepad? I'm having some fun using my XBOX 360 controller on it.

hehe yeah i downloaded the hotfix and also the latest drivers 169xx
i get the funny feeling that these drivers though bring back the dreaded nvlddmkm stopped responding Error, for instance this problem happened for me like twice now in crysis and also in the witcher
i went back to the 163.75 drivers and the problem doesnt happen at all.
but the performance loss you get in crysis keeps makeing me go back to them lol
and yeah im useing the xbox controller aswell hehe, game actually plays very well with it.

yeah its unfortunately a common problem with nvidia hardware lately. i have not experienced this issue apart from World In Conflict however (which works fine on a R600).

On my computer (see sign) i get playable performance in DX9 mode (forced FX9 mode), everything set at high and at 1280X1024 (no AA). Loading a savegame with ingame fps counter (r_displayinfo 1) i see im getting 30-46 fps just looking around. In action fps will drop to ~25s.
DX10 is another story. Setting everything at VeryHigh results in fps around 12-15 (not playable). The graphics are simply amazing (love the sun shafts etc) but it simply isnt playable.
I have waited for crysis before i wanted to judge DX10. All games that have been released have been said to be ports and/or hybrid dx9/10 games. Crysis has had its mind on DX10 for so long now, and now that the demo is released the performance is not better than any other DX10 title we´ve seen. Sure the graphics are nice (best up to date), but it simply isnt playable. DX10 performance is crap, and all the talk about getting free performance by upgrading to Vista (remember Cevat saying that in a video review?) has all been blatant BS and marketing.
Vista performance is below XP, and DX10 is slower than DX9 (even with the same image quality). (see here: TweakGuides Forums - View Single Post - Crysis)
You dont release titles that run at 30fps with Quadcores faster than money can buy (overclocked Core2quad @ 3.5+ghz) coupled with the fastest GPUs available (overclocked 8800Ultras). Especially when you keep saying HD2900/8800GTS-class cards are supposed to run this game maxed out at 1280X1024, when really these systems only put up 10frames per second wich is a disaster (at those settings).
I have yet to see a Xbox360 title released with superb graphics running at 10fps with devs saying "well uhh it will run better on the next-next-gen xbox", so stop treating PC-users diffrently.
I'll shut up now.

how did you guys get Xfire to work? doesnt seem to do squat for me!? i got crossfire enabled...hmm im going to look for a fix or something- i really wanna test the game with crossfire- but some settings on medium is no problem with me- it IS just a demo!
i have full confidence with Crytek- they know what they are doing- i mean even the online experience with farcry blew me away! CS- is fun for a little bit, or if your buzzed hehe- but farcry was just nuts.
all in all the visuals are not the most important thing to me - but getting some more frames in doesnt hurt either.
as far as DX-10 is concerned.. i dont feel like installing my vista copy at the moment- not even for a dual boot..im going to wait for a while- pick up a new HD then install it with *hopefully* SP2- plus im waiting for Phennon and atis later cards =) i want tht 1gb of Vram on 1 card- im nuts so i will buy 2- hey has anyoen been gaming with 2 cpus?
2 processors on 1 mobo? that would be sweet!
anyways game on- this one for right now- might be side and side with HL- but ill see how the plot unfolds in the real version...
crytek- just release it dudes! i even played this game at LOWLOW graphics..its still fun..try it out guys and check out the wierd physics

yes ive been testing it with 2 cpus, 4 cores on each. doesn't really make a huge difference compared to a quad, but hey having more sure as hell doesn't hurt.

well well well well well
oh man- good thing is i ran into a couple of things im sure alot of you folks already have tried-
first off running the dx10 features on dx9- was nuts i loved it! i know i know the dx-10 is mose sexy- but this dont need a bag over the head!
secondly- a nice tweaked cfg file which did not hinder visuals at all (actually i dont know what it did..didnt even look!) but the visuals set to high- and the game is running really smooth- awesome!
damn Zargon your rich! 2 Xeons...insanity- this just your gaming pc
i didnt check framrates but from what i saw by naked eye- 40 max- 30-40 it seems- again VERY rough estimate.
turning the movies off helps alot- for some reason the movies made the loading time - well just say...i was doing situps and crunches for about 10 min - and it still didnt load- but once i took off movies- bam- 3 min in game ready to kick ass..
havent even beaten the demo cause im one of those gamers taht look to see ALL the details possible- physics, lighting , volumetric lighting/fog, soft shadows- the works...im just really enjoying this one folks- Crytek did a really nice job...hows about they give ATi a hand with them drivers - but considering - its awesome...oh man..i have not felt this giddy since Half life!
now time to fix up jericho muwhahaahahaha - Game -(On)-

Here's a copy of the orginal post: (makes the water look amazing!-- and unlocks VERY HIGH (ps.. I'm seeing 8-20 fps with my rig)
I went to my CVarGroups folder and in there were a bunch of cfg files.
I first made a copy of the entire CVarGroups on my desktop in case I screwed up. I then opened each cfg and made the same edits. You copy the default (4) option which is the first block of text and paste/replace the last block of text with it.
for example the "sys_spec_Particles.cfg"
[default]
; default of this CVarGroup
= 4
e_particles_quality=4
e_particles_lod=1
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=32
r_UseSoftParticles=1
e_water_ocean_soft_particles= 1
e_particles_object_collisions=1
[1]
e_particles_quality=1
e_particles_lod=0.75
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=4
r_UseSoftParticles=0
e_water_ocean_soft_particles=0
e_particles_object_collisions=0
[2]
e_particles_quality=2
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=8
[3]
e_particles_quality=3
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=16
Copy all the red text and paste/replace the blue text with it so it looks like...
[default]
; default of this CVarGroup
= 4
e_particles_quality=4
e_particles_lod=1
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=32
r_UseSoftParticles=1
e_water_ocean_soft_particles= 1
e_particles_object_collisions=1
[1]
e_particles_quality=1
e_particles_lod=0.75
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=4
r_UseSoftParticles=0
e_water_ocean_soft_particles=0
e_particles_object_collisions=0
[2]
e_particles_quality=2
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=8
[3]
e_particles_quality=4
e_particles_lod=1
e_particles_max_emitter_draw_screen=32
r_UseSoftParticles=1
e_water_ocean_soft_particles= 1
e_particles_object_collisions=1
Do this same thing with all the cfg files in the CVarGroups folder. Just remember to BACK UP the old files first!!!!

A couple of odd things happening today. (It played fine initially yesterday.)
NOTE: Under Vista 32-bit
1. When I start the demo from the All Programs/Games list, I get a blank screen with the game's Title Bar across the top. My Taskbar pops up at the bottom of the screen with the Crysis icon showing active. BUT, the game doesn't start. What I have to do is bring up the Task Manager and then select Switch to... That starts the game.
2. The game is playing in Windowed mode. The game Title Bar doesn't go away. Consequently, if my Screensaver is active, the game goes into Pause when the SS kicks in. Of course, this can be worked around by making sure my SS is turned off. But, why is the game defaulting to Windowed mode? I checked several locations in the game settings to see if I accidentally somehow clicked on an option like this, but I can't find anything.
The demo is AWESOME, though. I got through it with little trouble other than these little annoyances.

Dyre, I have the same issue. I think the check box to set it to full screen is under the menu where you set the resolution. It has reset itself on one occasion, when I had a driver crash after setting high quality shadows.
