Win XP on pre-installed vista laptop - driver issue
i've bought a laptop for my mother with Vista pre-installed. But now it turns out she doesnt like it very much and want XP with the older office on it. so i've installed windows XP, but the driver CD i got with the laptop is for Vista only. So there is no way to install the drives from that cd on my XP. The laptop i bought isnt mentioned on the Asus website (Asus Z53U) so that isnt an option either.
has anybody got an idea how to get my hands on the drivers?

Find out the components being used on the laptop, and then get them individually.
Goto start/run --> DXdiag then save the information, and either host the .txt it creates, or just copy and paste the info and I would be glad to look over and give you the drivers.

i found out through dxdiag that the laptop is a F3U series, not Z53U. but that didnt help me much, because all drivers on the asus site are for vista.
this is the dxdiag text.

From your DXdiag you should have no problems getting drivers for the devices, beyond that all you need to know is the manufacturer of like your ethernet card, but mouse/keyboard/video drivers are all widely available for almost every make and model.
just give a hollar if you cant get something working.
