School Mentoring...

Here's the deal, i'm in year 11 at school (dunno what grade it would be in the US) and there's a ridiculous system in place for year 11's to "get the most out of your education" and it's known as peer mentoring.
What happened over the summer break was, every year 11 student was assigned a member of staff who has a group of 5/6 kids to mentor, this mentor is supposed to be someone who can help you keep track of your work ect.

I thought fair enough until my mentor started threatening me with detentions and isolations when i missed the first 2 arrange meetings because i was actually working in my lessons instead of checking my crap school email account...

My teachers are hassling me about going to After school lessons which i refuse to go to, because in my opinion, my evening is my evening, and i'm not giving it up for anyone.
Right, i could live with my teachers hassling me but now my mentor's got involved and she's talking about FORCING me to go.
I mean short of grabbing me by the balls and dragging me to these lessons she can't do anything, but she's still threatening me with detentions and isolations.

On the way out of school today she was on the gate making sure nobody was rioting/fighting/ect... and she said "Tom what after school lessons are you going to then", i was mid-discussion with a mate at this point about WoW, so i had to stop myself from saying "fuck off", i stopped, turned around and boldy said "None", and with a forced smile i walked off...

Imo this is fucked up, what do you think?

First I've heard of such a program and it should be on a voluntary basis only so these kinds of situations don't happen.

I guess the most obvious question is what's the worst that can happen if you continue to slag off the program. If it can't harm your academics or get on your permanent school records then too bad for them.

It's apparently supposed to help you get the most out of your education but that's all a load of bullshit, everybody can see straight through the school's false claim.
All the mentor does it monitor your every move, they get a record or every warning/comment (positive discipline, what a load of shit) you get in lessons, and they get copies of all the work you've done in your subjects.

Sure, the hovering detention was enough to remind me to go to a meeting but it's the fascist approach i can't tolerate, i'd rather have no mentor than this nazi fascist i've got for one.

that does sound like BS but how many after school things do you have to go to? might be worth it to just stomach a few of them to get the bitch off your back. if its a constant every day thing, then yea fuck em in the ass but comeon...once in awhile you could give up a few hours in the evening right? it would make life easier.

I was thinking about doing that but i'm determined to make my bold statement which sounds useless but to me it's all about a balance of power, when the teachers think their getting one up on me they're going to keep going until they've stamped me right down. And i'm perfectly aware it sounds completely retarded but i'm different to everybody else and i'm determined to show that by monitoring my education, i'll go to these after school lessons for subjects i'm seriously behind in.

The problem is you see, i couldn't really give a shit about passing most of my subjects except maybe science, maths and CiDA because the rest are just fillers i had to choose and wasn't allowed to leave blank, but now one of my CiDA Teachers has turned into a dick, my electronics teacher was sort of a dick until he actually started listening to me, and strangely enough my maths, english and science teachers aren't... Weird :/

I'll endure the mentor rattling on, because they can't do a single bloody thing about it

I actually have another Idea, Apparently one of my teachers is going to give me an isolation (where you and all the other retards/smokers/badly behaved people are locked in a room and forced to work in silence all day) because of the way i spoke to him.

If i do get this isolation, i plan to stay off school regardless of what my parents say (My mum's given up on me i think) and start ringing round colleges, and see if i can do my exams there instead

It's the fact that i just can't handle all these teachers constantly shining lights up my arse, they claim they want coursework and stuff but they don't leave me alone to go do it.

The fact of the matter is, it's my education, and if i see fit to do extra work to maintain it i will, but i don't think i'm doing badly enough to endure these frigging after school lessons and i can't put up with mentors/teachers constantly emailing home as well, because when they do my mum gets all iffy and starts having a go at me and it descends into a full scale row. When i try to make a point, mum gets louder, and then so do i and it normally ends up with me storming back upstairs and slamming the door.

This school is tearing my family apart for god's sake

Dude I know you already know this but mum gets mad for one reason and that is because she wants the best for you. You know whats weird about getting older? You reach this point and you see your parents as people, no shit I know this sounds gay but its true, you see your mom as just another girl. Not any different from any other girl. Its weird your whole life your mom is like just some entity thats there looking over you, but you will hit a point when the roles are reversed and realize she just loves you and when no one is there she will be there.

If I could go back I wouldnt wanna get with girls, well yeah I would, but I would wanna treat my mom better than I did.

And school is tough yeah, but work is going to be even shittier, so either get used to listining to a boss\teacher or change your entire outlook on life.

I honetsly did drop out of uni and started my own business and now I'm doing pretty good, I would love to say school is nothing but bullshit because to me thats what it turned out to be but for others, people with goals that fit into the norm its needed.

So far my mentor seems to have kept her distance from me but the cheeky bitch decided to phone home last night when i got home from school.
I was completely knackered and cranky as shit but i still managed to put on a fairly polite voice.
And despite all my protest the bitch STILL FUCKING TRIED TO MAKE ME GO TO THE FUCKING AFTER SCHOOL LESSONS...
