Hello all,

I have Mobility HD2600 in my MSI GX710PX notebook, running WinXP SP2. I've dowloaded official Catalyst 7.9, modded them using newest ModTool. Everything went smooth. But when I try to run 3DMark05 (or 03), the program crashes. I've also checked DXDiag, but no problems were reported there, I run DirectDraw and Direct3D tests and without any problem.

My device ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9581&SUBSYS_42CD1462&REV_00\4&3B2 52A0E&0&0010

exclamation

Hello,

I have a toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 with ATI Radeon X1200 graphic card. I cannot install the Catalyst directly ("Setup did not found a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit."). I have tried to solve the problem using the latest modtool but the error message still appear. I have Windows XP Pro x64 Edition.
P.S. My X1200 card type is also not listed in the modtool compatible hardware, but only x1300...
Could someone help me?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Spike,

thank you for your reply, but I'm not sure what you mean with "point you to an old driver"... Like I said, my card is ATI Radeon X1200... Could you please be more specific? Thank you in advance.

Well...the problem with 3DMark is quite common among GX710PX users (ehm, Turion X2 & AMD M690G & Radeon HD2xxx) - but it occures also under Vista, not only XP. I tried Call Of Duty2, CS:Source, but those games run well. But 3DMark will show only that splash screen (while loading), and then the PC freezes completely.

Heya,

Yesterday I attempted to install the modified Catalyst 7.9 drivers on my computer, but it failed due to their being an "alternate version" already installed. Sorry for the very n00bish question, but do I have to uninstall my current drivers before installing these?

Also, is receiving an error like this normal?

Thanks.

knilsilooc that message you get in that screenshot is normal, that is because the driver is not WHQL signed just click continue anyway. It is best to uninstall your previous drivers first.

nManJofo i will look if i can find more details about that type of laptop and see if there is some fix orso.

Conrad is it possible for me to download a driver that you use like from the site of the laptop orso?

Spike, it is only possible to download the Vista driver from Toshiba site for my graphic card ... there is no other driver for Windows XP. What I've done is to search on the ati site the x1200 driver, found it and being redirected to download the Catalyst Software Suite 7.9 (see attached pictures 1 and 2). But, like I said, i cannot install the Catalyst software because of that error message...

Thanks in advance.

FINAL EDIT: Never mind, problem's been solved

Hi everyone,

First time poster - and I need some help.
Earlier today, Steam alerted me that my graphics drivers were not up to date. I went to ATI's site, but it directed me to the manufacturer's site (Gateway). I downloaded those drivers, but apparently I had the most recent one (in their database) already.

I did some browsing across the internet and found Omega Drivers. I uninstalled the ATI Drivers and CCC, and installed Omega. This did not work for me, so I moved to DriverHeaven.

I uninstalled the Omega Drivers, and followed the instructions for the Mobility Modder. (I installed the most recent ATI driver set for XP, 7-9_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_52443). It seemed that all was going well. I was playing Half Life 2 and it was running fine - and then all the sudden, it crashed.

I tried to figure out the problem, and figured I'd run a DirectX diagnostics test on the video card.

I got this error message when I ran the "Test Direct3D" tests:
"An error occurred while setting your display to 640x480 mode with 16-bit color."

This is what appeared in the notes:
The file ati2dvag.dll is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 39 (SetDisplayMode to 640x480x16): HRESULT = 0x80004001 (Not implemented)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x88760827 (error code)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)

Computer Specs:
Gateway M285-E (Tablet PC)
ATI Radeon X1400 (256 MB)
1024 DDR RAM
Dual Core 1.8Ghz processor
Windows XP

Do these errors mean anything in particular? Would it be best to download a driver sweeper, do a clean sweep, and then reinstall the most recent drivers through the Mobility Modder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I rebooted, and now all the Direct3D Tests are working fine again. Anyone have an explanation for why I had the errors earlier? Is such a thing normal with the Mobility Modder or should I look into it?

EDIT 2: Went back into the game - 30 seconds in, I came upon polygons that were shaded all wrong as the game started skipping. I may attempt to do a clean driver sweep, and then reinstall the Mobility Modder.

EDIT 3: Back to the original drivers. Another error while playing HL2. Maybe the engine just hates my video card . Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks a lot,
Hydro

My system crash on the official Catalyst 7.10 (modded by Mobility Modder). Windows XP. Back to 7.10 beta RC4.
Is the problem with new Catalyst, or Modder?

Sorry for bad english.

exclamation Amilo Xi 1546 crashes on external montior (WinXP)

Hi!
Thank you so much for this great application! I'm a new driver enthusiast so I try out everything new when they get released.
I have the new ModTool and the latest 7.10 catalyst for WinXp. The CCC doesn't start because it can't find various "implementation"s (at least that's what is says). And the driver is OK until I don't want to use an external monitor. When I try to enable an external one, the laptop's screen tightens and the laptop freezes immediately, only reset button helps.

I didn't have any problems with older releases.
Thank you in advance.

Default Post

Just a follow-up to my previous post: I tried the 7.10RC4 as someone suggested here before, and it works perfectly fine with my Amilo Xi 1546, the "retail" driver does not. So something changed between those two builds!
Also, I've tried modding the retail 7.10 with the old ModTool3, the new ModTool4 and neither could compile the driver correctly. Also I tried to modify only the driver and leave the CCC and other stuff alone, also didn't help, the laptop immediately freezes when I try to enable a secondary (external) screen!

I hope you guys will be able to find out what's wrong, I will patiently wait!

Thank you!

It is very important that you guys also include the ati radeon mobility (or was it mobility radeon?) xpress 1250 (x1250) in your next update! You said you would do that but maybe the idea of including this chipset has been lost during your last update! Never mind! But plz include it because i was searching so long for a way to get those new catalyst drivers working on my xpress 1250 (x1250)!

Sincerely yours,

Defkaunta

I own Amilo Xi 1546 as well (Windows XP Media Center, Ati Mobility Radeon X1800). Recently I tried out Catalyst 7.10 (I downloaded it from DriverHeaven) with Mobility Modder. The results... I damn near had to complitely re-install Windows since I couldn't get Windows to startup properly (got as far as the background picture appearing in the desktop but that's it, no icons, no nothing).

After this, I went back to using Catalyst 7.7 with Mobility Modder, as IMO it's the most stable one of the latest Catalyst drivers.

u didnt have to reinstall. u could log in into safe mode (f8 before windows boots), remove the drivers, re-boot and install another version.

most windows problems do not need a reinstall of windows, only safe-mode and in worst cases, a boot with a rescue cd.

Dell inspiron 1505 with ATI mobility x1400. So, after 7.10 modded install the screen brightness and color intensity went down for some reason and I could not find a way to get it back to normal. It's not like you cant work at all, it's just weird to look at. Now I am back to my old drivers (march 7th 2007 ones). Got to go and try 7.9 version. Thanks for the tool, guys.
