Nero 8
Just kinda curious if anyone has used it yet or not? What are your impressions, and how does it compare? A week or so ago my local Best Buy was selling it for $59.00 for the full version. Which is kinda funny since Nero is offering a discount to $50.00 for previous version owners. Which I find quite funny for a download version since I'd rather pay $10.00 to get a box w/ a DVD. Never mind I purchased my copy of 7 during a "Black Friday" sale, ended up only paying $25.00 for it. Perhaps if this version is an actual improvement I'll get lucky again.

From what i can see, the burning it's pretty much the same.
It has better smartstart, better backup program, can play hd-dvd and blu-ray NeroShow and some online features with Youtube and Myspace...
I would stay with v7, doesn't find v8 worth the money, but I'm using Nero 7 lite, which is pretty much Nero Burning Rom, Infotool, Drivespeed and CD-DVD speed.

You might have to do a really thorough cleanup of the old versions before the new version will initiate the scout installer. I never want it to be running so it is disabled within its options and now when I update it never tries to start again. That might mean something like this could happen if it is running while you are updating? I have had weird stuff like this happen before and when I searched for Nero related registry entries after uninstall I was amazed at what was left behind.

The issue I'm having is that everytime I run InfoTool 5 it hangs for a little while then finally opens. However, when checking the Windows event logs there is an iaStor error. I've tested this on a few machines. The only thing in common is that they all have SATA DVD burners. I also receive this once in a while with Recode running. Nero 7's Recode and Infotools does not do this what so ever. I have the latest chipset drivers etc installed for my box (XPS410, so Intel chipset and Intel SATA raid drivers). I haven't seen anything on the net yet with other experiencing the issue. I've reported it to Nero, but yet to hear back a resolution.
