The only good ones really are the Thermalright HR-05 and the Noctua NH-U6.

The Thermalright cooler is a beast, I've got the SLI version (no difference in cooling, just curved to fit better on some boards). I haven't bothered keeping a fan on it, and at full load, nothing goes past 15 degrees over ambient.

How did it end up working out for you? I'm considering buying one of these but everyone keeps saying the mounting is too loose. Did you find that to be a problem?

It doesn't get cranked on tight like a lot of CPU coolers, but I don't think it's necessary, it's quite light, and there aren't the proper attachments on most motherboards to get it any tighter.

I had been meaning to replace the plastic clips on mine with some more solid screws, but never got around to it, as the plastic clips work just fine.

well worth the money. It actually ended up being pretty tight once it was on there how i liked it. Its not loose like its going to fall off loose just that if you pulled on it, it might move

i just ordered the THERMALRIGHT|HR-05-SLI
and am anxiously awaiting its arrival

the only complaint i have is the price gap between the SLI and the regular version.....I mean come on its just one freakin' bend

meh...i had to get the SLI version because of ASUS's brilliant architecture which placed the north bridge directly under the back portion of my GFX card ..... thank you ASUS

EDIT: while I'm ranting about the heat tube design.....has anyone but me ever really cracked that tube open after you took it off?

That'd be a messy operation. You intend to dissect the old heatpipe? I'd like to see pixxx if so

well.....there wasn't anything to look at inside upon cracking this bad boy open there was nothing inside but some air pressure and a foul smelling gas. The pipe was completely void of any liquids of any type and i didn't even bother to take pics i was disappointed
