ups truly sx
i had a package shipped from socal(i live in norcal) thursday morning via ups 2 day air, had a pkg shipped from ny thursday afternoon via fedex 2 day air. the ups update didnt give me a delivery date, but left for west sac( wich is about 130 miles from here. we do have a good size ups facilty here also) at 9 pm. i figured if it went by air it would get to west sac before midnight in plenty of time to go out on the early am truck(dont understand why it wasnt flown here direct tho..) t oredding & then gout on delivery today.
well i got updated today, & it had a 'rescheduled delivery time' notice & it still hadnt made west sac wich means it was trucked up here. what happened was, ups saw that ifthe ydid air they would deliver early & for whatever reason they dont like that. i have seen this behavior before with pkgs sitting down in west sac for 2-3 days until they send it up here to get delivered 'on time'. i have never had a pkg delivered early by ups.
now, i got my update on fedex last nite saying it would be delivered monday, wich is about what i expected. chkd again a little bit ago & the pkg is on truck for delivery! i have had several pkgs arive early with fedex.
anyway it is just a rant, just sick of ups sitting on pkgs so they wont have deliver them early(dont know why they care), & getting my item trucked instead of flown like i paid for becuase their logistics can make it work within their allotted time frame.
& i know 2 days air means 2-3 business days, but if fedex can fly it & get it from ny to nor cal overnite & delivered, why cant ups deliver it a few hundred miles using the same shipping method & with a 6-8 hour headstart?
like i said this a pattern of behavior i have seen over several years & it obviously irritates me.
ty for for the rant.

while ithought of that, it is not a flame but a post informing peeps about fedex superiority(imo) over ups. done in a semi rant style.
i really dont see it as a flame anyway, everything i say is fact as far as my personal experience with both companies go & these events have happened several times with both outfits. i guess i could slightly change the title & some of the wording, but the info & general concept would be the same...
bty, it took ups 12 hours to 'fly' my pkg from anaheim to w sac. lol. basically i paid for air, but the closest it got was being airborne while being thrown up in the truck .

If you don't want any problems, just deliver your package or pick it up personally

This could almost go in the "Retailer Discussion" forum.
But, I've had some horrible experiences with UPS, too. Just for the record.

late in the game but....
IMO, i prefer UPS over FedEx. and actually, for many of the same faults you find in UPS, i find in FedEx. My best personal example i can think of is when NewEgg was using FedEx instead of UPS. Back then, NewEgg would ship ground via FedEx which would take 4 to 5 business days in shipping time. Which, is no big issue with me....except that NewEgg's main warehouse is less than a 30min. drive from my house. If NewEgg had will call service, i'd be picking up my order the same day it it would be ready. Anyways, that's beside the point. FedEx shipping would indeed take it's sweet ass time in getting me that ground shipped package from NewEgg and i'd sure enough, get it in 4 to 5 business days. To top it off, the FedEx facility for my area is only a 5min. drive from my house!
Now that NewEgg uses UPS for shipping instead of FedEx, it gets to me the next day it's shipped. Which is substantionally much more reasonable because it's only a 30min. drive from me. I understand that a package still has to go through two facilities from me to have the product shipped to my house, but the UPS facility for my local area is also just next door to FedEx's facility.
IMO, choose your Poison:
UPS - Under Paid Slaves
FedEx - Fucked Every Day Even X-mas
EDIT:
but i guess i may be biased since i used to work at UPS...twice, and i've applied to work for FedEx....twice, and they never hired me.

every time i get a package from them it looks like they doused it in water and then punted it at my door in hopes to get close so they don't have to walk
